About the Role

The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test helps deliver the quality and performance of multi-platform software products that includes; web, API and mobile application interfaces. This role involves working closely with Software Developers that includes leveraging shift-left methods to understand a complex domain and product. The Sr. SDET focuses on contributing to the development of automated Functional Integration tests, end-to-end tests, and utilization of test frameworks for overall system testing within an Agile environment. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Responsibilities

• Tests complex API, web and mobile based applications that reference database back-end systems.
• Creates and maintains automated test cases, executes test suites, reviews and diagnoses reported bugs, and ensures overall system quality prior to a customer release.
• Designs, develops, maintains, and troubleshoots automated suites of tests through continuous integration for value added feedback.
• Works with the engineering teams to derive testing requirements throughout the development cycle.
• Reproduces, debugs, and isolates problems and verify fixes.
• Works closely with software developers to create software artifacts including test plans, test cases, test procedures and test reports.
• Works cross functional areas with internal partner engineering teams in a disciplined agile environment.
• Estimates own testing tasks and works productively with minimum supervision while showing excellent team attitude.
• Represents team leadership and provides technical guidance and training to junior test personnel.
• Participates in non-functional testing testing and analysis

Education and Experience

• 5+ years experience writing test automation code (Python and/or Javascript)
• Experience setting and implementing testing standards and best practices at an team level
• Experience developing/mentoring other SDETs
• Experience testing web applications (both frontends and APIs)
• Experience testing Android mobile applications
• Experience writing end-to-end tests across platforms
• Experience conducting load and performance testing
• Experience writing contract and integration tests
• An automation first testing mindset
• Experience with MySQL and/or Postgres DBs
• Experience reviewing requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Good technical foundation with ability to pick up new skills and adapt quickly
• Desire to learn new technologies while supporting existing
• Acute attention to detail
• An ability to think up new ways to break our applications
• A commitment to software craftsmanship and things like code review, design patterns, etc
• Quality as a culture mentality

This is an exempt role. Our job titles for each posting may span across more than one job level. The estimated base salary for this role is between $110,000 and $179,731. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salaries across all US locations. Compensation packages are based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, work experience, relevant trainings and certifications, business needs, market demands and specific geographical location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
