Bioprocess Modeler / Data Scientist

How you will contribute:

We are looking for an experienced Bioprocess Modeler to join our growing company. You will be responsible for developing models and data analysis pipelines for biological and biochemical processes related to assessing lemna growth at scale. You will have an immediate impact by improving the biomass growth models for open ponds that will have a positive impact on optimizing cultivation operations and support design of the next generation cultivation systems at Plantible.

What you will be working on:

• Enhance and refine biomass growth models in open ponds to forecast biomass growth under variable environmental conditions.
• Conduct digital-twin simulations to support the development of next generation cultivation growth systems.
• Analyze complex biological and biochemical data sets to extract meaningful insights and drive data-driven decision-making about improving cultivation operations.
• Manage data acquisition, cleaning, and feature engineering for biological datasets.
• Collaborate with software development teams to integrate models into software solutions for next-generation operational software.

What you bring to Plantible:

• Knowledge of biological and biochemical processes:  understanding of basic principles of photosynthesis and factors affecting it in large cultivation systems.
• Modeling and simulation skills: proven experience in developing, enhancing, and refining models for biomass growth and conducting digital-twin simulations.
• Data management proficiency: strong skills in data acquisition, cleaning, and feature engineering for biological datasets.
• Analytical abilities: excellent analytical skills for interpreting complex biological and biochemical data sets with a data-driven approach to improving cultivation operations.
• Communication skills: excellent communication and presentation skills to clearly convey complex scientific concepts to cross-functional teams.
• Organizational skills: well-organized with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality results.

About you:

• Ph.D. in computational biology, chemical engineering, data science, operations research, applied mathematics, or related fields or MS in these fields with 2+ years of direct experience in numerical simulation of dynamic systems.
• Expertise in programming (python) and solving complex differential equations.
• Experience with numerical optimization and familiarity with nonlinear programming solvers.
• Proficiency in statistical modeling and parameter estimation techniques.
• End-to-end skills in simulation planning, execution, data analysis, and documentation.
