The Resource Adequacy Planning Department is primarily responsible for the reliable, economic, and coordinated operation of the PJM Interconnection in accordance with PJM Planning principles and standards, and the applicable NERC Regional Council Reliability Standards. The department performs analytical studies in support of the Regional Transmission Expansion Plan and the provisions of the Reliability Assurance Agreement and the PJM Open Access Tariff. The (Sr.) Engineer/Analyst supports activities to achieve Resource Adequacy Planning objectives, including:
• Evaluating resource performance
• Developing long-term peak demand and energy forecasts
• Performing system reliability studies to assess the resource adequacy of the PJM system
Essential Functions:
Contribute, along with other senior staff in the completion of reliability analysis, using PJM applications
Support of committee activities of the Markets and Reliability Committee and the Planning Committee, and contribute to further development of the PJM resource adequacy model.

Apply sound judgment and analysis to create innovative solutions to complex economic, forecasting, and /or systems performance issues. Apply this expertise in developing innovative strategies to enhance the PJM member companies' competitive edge.
Proactively works with other members of the System Planning Division to ensure that employees with a need to know are planning the system and markets with detailed knowledge of technical design principles, and PJM accepted practices, in a manner that is consistent with the government regulations.
Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of power system engineering concepts, principles, theories, regulations, standards, reliability concepts and techniques especially as they apply to PJM operations, planning, and markets.
Possesses a detailed understanding of PJM planning and operations.
Recognized as a problem solver that proactively addresses customer needs and reliability requirements with innovative, creative, and cost-effective solutions.
Establishes a sense of urgency to complete tasks in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Demonstrates ability to plan, execute, and complete complex analyses on schedule and within budget.

Characteristics & Qualifications:
Required:
BS degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics Operations Research or equivalent work experience
Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
Ability to use mathematical and electrical theory
Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint)
Preferred
MS degree in Engineering
Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
Experience using PSS/e (power system analysis program)
