Team Lead Engineering

You will join as the Team Lead Engineering (Create & Manage) and empower a team of frontend and full-stack developers to build the future of Phrase Strings, our solution to translate software and digital products like apps, websites, and video games. Phrase Strings enables developers, product managers and translators to work together more efficiently by centralizing the process of localizing software.

In your role, you will be guiding and developing your team members (we believe in a people-first mentality), enabling them to thrive and grow, while still having plenty of opportunities to stay in the details and be hands-on. You will be comfortable leveraging your experience and skills within an autonomous, distributed setting, being a great communicator and true team player.

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Growing your team of frontend and full-stack developers by actively recruiting new team members and supporting the people in your team in their career paths
• Working closely with Product Management to plan iterations (we’re inspired by the Shape-Up methodology) to ship code successfully and continuously
• Collaborating with department leaders to shape product ideas and help driving the vision of the future Phrase Strings experience
• Overseeing and driving decisions on architecture and developer tooling
• Guiding your team members by providing feedback through code reviews, assessments and coaching
• Participating in initiatives across teams and departments
• Presenting and celebrating your team's accomplishments

What you need:

• Experience in successfully managing and leading a team of frontend and full-stack engineers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
• Expert knowledge of building and operating large, high-traffic web applications with Ruby and Rails (or comparable)
• Solid knowledge of frontend technologies, especially Vue.js, TypeScript, GraphQL
• High proficiency in spoken and written English - we’re an international team and English is our official language
