Job title:
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and development of handheld medical and consumer electronic devices. This role owns mechanical architecture, ensures robust design for usability, reliability, and manufacturability, and supports products from concept to mass production.
Your role:
Lead mechanical design and develop high volume handheld personal health and medical devices, including parts, systems and/or solutions according to the V-model, Satisfies user and business requirements by applying internal and external research results, and technology advancements, while taking care of the total system and the inner workings of a design.
Architecting, designing, documenting, and implementing high quality mechanical solutions on multiple platforms across multiple product ranges. This includes but is not limited to:
Lead 3D CAD design, tolerance analysis, and detailed drawings
Design plastic and metal parts including housings, internal frames, seals, and mechanisms etc.
Drive DFM/DFA with suppliers and manufacturing partners
Support thermal, vibration, drop, and environmental robustness requirements
Collaborate with electronics, firmware, industrial design, and quality teams
Lead mechanical verification testing and failure analysis, drive optimization with suppliers.
Support tooling development, trial builds, and mass production ramp-up
Responsible for delivering input in the planning process to the project manager. Draws up personal schedules and reports on progress in a structured and methodical way.
Contribute to the estimation of the required development effort and run-time resources
You're the right fit if:
Bachelor/Master degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Manufacturing engineering
7+ years of relevant working experience, owning/leading mechanical development in projects from idea through implementation
Demonstrated design experience in electro-mechanical product development and material selection for mass manufacturing, in particular injection, molded parts, sheet metal parts and design for assembly
Demonstrated technical leadership skills in a multi-discipline engineering project environment, including working with development suppliers.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with people globally and all levels of the organization
Demonstrated experience in technical problem solving
Demonstrated good technical documentation skills
Experience with finite element analysis for static and dynamic stresses
Experience with design of experiments
Experience with requirements flow down from customer level to components level
Experience with rapid prototyping method
Hands-on knowledge in Six Sigma DFSS, certification is preferred
Preferably experience within a regulated industry (medical devices highly desirable, along with knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management, FDA Quality System Regulations, and ISO 13485).
Practical CAD experience, Creo 8.0 or above preferred.
Fluent in English (both writing and verbal)
Logical thinking and demonstrated competencies on handling multiple tasks.
