The Commercial Creation Center & CDI (C4) team builds and maintains the platforms and capabilities that enable Pfizer Business Units to connect digitally with our external customers and effectively engage and collaborate across teams internally.  This includes all digital (web, mobile, omni-channel, & devices) products, platforms, services, and experiences in service of patients, HCPs, payors, pharmacists, or clinical sites. We build advanced cloud-based technology solutions at a global scale that positively impact Pfizer business performance.

Patient and Marketplace Corp. Affairs:  Within C4, the Patient and Marketplace Corp. Affairs team is accountable for delivering patient-facing digital companions and external marketplace solutions to increase customer value and simplify specialty pharma services to ensure patients can acquire Pfizer breakthroughs.​

The U.S. Channels and Global Web Experience team directly owns and operates Pfizer.com, the operation of our primary U.S. corporate social channels, and the look and feel of our regional corporate sites around the world, consulting and supporting objectives from various stakeholders across the entire company, as well as directly setting objectives and delivering on them.

The Solutions Engineer is a senior technical role responsible for developing ideas and leading the design and overseeing the implementation of complex cutting-edge technical solutions across business units. This role serves as the bridge between business requirements and technical capabilities, translating stakeholder needs into innovative and scalable solutions that leverage emerging technologies. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Subject Matter Expertise - General

  • Design and architect technical solutions that address stakeholder needs while adhering to best practices, industry standards, and Pfizer's technology strategies.
  • Develop detailed technical specifications, system architectures, and implementation plans for immersive solutions.
  • Oversee the implementation of digital solutions by development teams, ensuring adherence to the defined technical architecture and design principles.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, security protocols, and industry best practices related to solution development and deployment.
  • Act as technical lead for Pfizer.com (and functionality shared with our regional sites): accountable for the technical strategy, in close coordination with Platform team and other technical partners.
  • Strategic Leadership & Delivery
  • Take risk-based approach to advance innovative processes and methodologies based on comprehensive business knowledge for evaluation and recommendation of appropriate technologies, platforms, and frameworks, considering factors such as scalability, performance, security, and integration with existing systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and drive the adoption of new solutions and strategies.

Resource and Financial Management

  • Provide direct oversight to colleagues and contractors that comprise the technical/engineering team, as well as in-region manager for other local colleagues on the team (which may include roles that aren’t primarily technical/engineering)
  • Manages and leads people, technological and financial resources within the Business Unit, often lead by influence rather than direct authority, in addition to direct reports.

Cross- Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Delivery Lead, Service Owners, stakeholders, and development teams to gather and analyze business requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the Technical Services Leads and Platform teams, to ensure seamless integration and support for solutions with Pfizer's digital platforms and technologies.
  • Use a variety of communication tools and techniques to present complex ideas; Anticipates potential objections and influences others

Coaching and Mentorship

  • Conduct technical design reviews and solution evaluations to ensure alignment with business requirements, technological constraints, and industry best practices.
  • Actively shares knowledge with multiple functions in Global Business Unit through existing knowledge sharing processes/systems on technical design reviews and solution evaluations to ensure alignment with business requirements, technological constraints, and industry best practices.
  • Contributes to the development of organizational knowledge management processes/systems

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of extensive experience in solution architecture, technical design, and implementation of complex software systems, with a focus on leading a team of engineers and defining the process for a developer team, particularly in relation to a database-driven content management system (CMS).
  • Strong understanding of Drupal/PHP/MySQL stack development technologies, platforms, and frameworks, along with their strengths, limitations, and integration capabilities. Deep understanding of Drupal’s caching system, modules, crons, taxonomies is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages, development tools, and software engineering practices relevant to implementing and integrating CMS tools with modern frontend technologies (e.g., HTML5, CSS3, ES6). Experience with a popular JavaScript framework like React, Next, Vue, Angular is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and trade-offs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies, project management practices, and software development life cycles.
  • Passion for exploring emerging technologies and driving innovation in the field of GenAI/LLM/Semantic Search (several related efforts underway looking for leadership and individually contribution)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, robust, and scalable technical solutions.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes and JIRA/Confluence
  • Proven track record of coaching and/or managing a technical team a plus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications.
  • Experience in the Pharma industry
  • Experience with Microsoft Technology Stack, including .NET framework & SharePoint, and demonstrated understanding of cloud application architectures
  • Familiarity with front end modern application frameworks and tools such as node.js, Angular.js, Ionic, Apple Swift, kotlin, Vue.js.  and / or back end frameworks and tools such as Java, Laravel, Drupal, Python, PHP. 
  • High proficiency and proven successful delivery of experiences using Agile development, especially scaled agile and lean techniques and methodologies (Disciplined Agile, SAFe, etc.)
  • Line management experience in a global organization with demonstrated career development and coaching expertise, including performance management, succession planning and new hire planning
