AI, Data, & Analytics R&D (AIDA R&D), a Pfizer Digital organization, is responsible for the development and management of all data and analytics tools and platforms across the enterprise – from global research and development, to manufacturing, to commercial, to patient care across over 100+ countries.   One of the team’s top priorities is the advancement of AI/ML enabled analytics and the creation of data solutions that can be leveraged across the enterprise.

The Director AIDA R&D Solution Delivery and Engineering will join a team of global, highly skilled colleagues across solution delivery and engineering. This position will be expected to contribute to strategy and portfolio management and governance and lead multiple teams of engineers and solution architects to ensure the delivery and the management of high-quality data and advanced analytic solutions.

The Director will closely partner and strategize with leaders from Global Product Development including but not limited to Clinical Development and Operations, Biostatistics, Clinical Patient Experience, Regulatory and other Digital creation centers to drive advanced analytic capabilities, AI/ML and data asset creation.  The ability to operate in a transparent manner, effectively influence senior development and operations associates, lead cross-functional matrixed teams, and engineer and architect transformative, data driven solutions, and assets is essential. Successful candidates will be team-oriented, will demonstrate leadership, strategic planning, consulting skills, and will have experience with large pharmaceutical datasets, directing teams to deliver global analytic solutions.

This role will work closely with Global Product Development teams and Digital teams across Pfizer to maximize the use of data for solutions, operations and insights related to acceleration of global product development, clinical practices and adherence to safety and regulatory obligations. This requires strong interpersonal, communication, influencing, analytical and problem-solving skills along with overseeing the adoption of agile best practices. This role will drive best practices and capabilities across business units and discover and nurture opportunities for collaboration across divisions. This role will provide clinical product development business process understanding and ability to proactively present designs to advance business strategies through the optimization of existing enterprise capabilities and/or the addition of new capabilities that drive significant value.

This role will be a subject matter expert and use knowledge of industry and functional groups to adapt data, analytic, and AI trends, while leveraging and evolving our existing landscape including the Global Development Integration Platform, Dataiku, Alteryx, Databricks, Snowflake, and data visualization products (Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI). Areas of technical leadership include the design and delivery of reporting, data management, analytics and AI pipelines that enable data lakes, exploratory analysis, feature engineering and predictive model design and build. Generally, the colleague will have responsibility to lead teams in architecting, designing, and building data models, pipelines and products across various domains to power ML ops platforms, data driven applications and software and enable business intelligence solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 10+ years of management experience leading project teams and technology delivery functions

  • Demonstrated experience in scoping, defining, and managing projects including determining project viability, developing rigorous project estimates, developing, and establishing a project plan, budget defining technology solutions, developing RFPs, evaluating vendor responses, negotiating SOWs and identifying resource requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience at owning and managing a significant organizational or project budget ($1MM to $5MM annually)

  • 7+ years of experience Data warehousing, data modeling, and data transformation

  • 7+ years working on SQL with strong skills to do data investigation, root cause analysis and cross system analysis on DBs such as Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, Oracle, SqlServer, Teradata, etc. 

  • Experienced with deploying enterprise level solutions on data preparation and ETL platforms (i.e. one or more of Dataiku, Informatica, Talend, Databricks, DataStage, SSIS, Alteryx, etc.)

  • Ability to work in Agile, Scaled Agile, DevOps, DevSecOps methodologies. 

  • Demonstrated aptitude and attitude to get immersed in the resolution of technical challenges and technical advancements. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Master's degree or higher in preferred discipline(s): Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or Life Sciences

  • Pharmaceutical or life sciences experience, particularly in clinical development

  • Understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory environment and audit processes and data privacy such as PIPL, CCPA/ GDPR 

  • Experience with Data Governance tools such as Collibra, Alation or Axon 

  • Knowledge of cloud-based architectures (AWS, Azure, Google), cloud analytics products/solutions, and agile methodologies (SCRUM) to enable rapid cycles of development and release of analytics and data products/solutions.

  • Relevant related areas such as data quality, master data management, metadata management, collaboration, and business process management

  • Experience with semantic technologies (Neo4j, Titan, Neptune, StarDog, etc.)  and approaches

  • Knowledge of deploying BI visualization tools such as Spotfire, Tableau, Microstrategy, Qlik, Power BI

  • Ability to contribute to matrixed governance programs. 

  • Ability to communicate the results of complex analysis to non-technical audiences via effective visualizations and presentations. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cultures and to connect and engage with colleagues at all levels of the organization including the shop floor and Pfizer senior leadership.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $149,200.00 to $248,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
