Job description

Petcube is hiring a Android Engineer (Remote) — a full-time, remote role. Apply directly on Petcube's careers page below.

Join our team at Petcube and help shape the future of digital experiences for pet parents worldwide!

We're building a new subscription product that helps pet parents care for their pets day-to-day – it's live, it's our main focus, and it lives on the main screen in our app.

This is startup-mode: lots of change, shifting priorities, problems to figure out rather than tickets to execute.

You'll own Android single-handedly – architecture, quality, crashes, every Android call. Roughly 70% of your time goes to the new product, the rest keeps our other products healthy.

Responsibilities

  • Owning Android single-handedly – architecture, quality, crashes, every Android call
  • Building and shipping the new subscription product (~70% of your time)
  • Keeping existing products healthy and migrated forward (~30%)
  • Working through problems and shifting priorities, not just executing tickets

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience building Android apps with Kotlin – no fixed seniority requirement, energy and product thinking matter more than years on paper
  • Jetpack Compose in production
  • Modern Android architecture: Clean Architecture, MVI, DI (Dagger/Hilt/Koin), Coroutines/Flow
  • AI-assisted development as your default workflow
  • Consumer instincts – performance, smooth UX, crash-free quality
  • Genuine curiosity and willingness to work outside Android when the business needs it
  • Good English, good communication skills

Nice to have

  • Navigation 3
  • Analytics and experimentation in consumer apps
  • Native stack – JNI, C/C++, video streaming

Tech stack

Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Navigation 3, Clean Architecture + MVI, Coroutines/Flow, Dagger 2. Older products: same stack with legacy leftovers (~70/30 Kotlin/Java, 40/60 Compose/XML), migration-first approach.

Benefits

  • Startup environment inside an established company, sharp focus on the US market
  • Real path to leading your own team as the product scales
  • Remote work, flexible hours
  • 24 days of paid vacation
  • Medical insurance
  • Employment form that works for you
