Database Administrator - NO SQL Databases
Location: Kraków, Malopolskie, Poland
Overview A NoSQL Database Administrator is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing distributed, cloud-native database platforms that handle large-scale, high-velocity data workloads. The role focuses on ensuring scalability, availability, performance, and data security across modern data systems built on technologies like MongoDB, Couchbase, Cassandra, and Redshift. Horizontal scaling and distributed architectures Flexible schema design (schema-less / semi-structured data) High availability and fault tolerance across regions Automation and DevOps-driven database operations Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Platform Reliability: Maintain highly available, resilient database clusters Performance Optimization: Tune queries, indexes, and data distribution for large workloads Scalability: Design systems that scale seamlessly with business growth Security & Compliance: Enforce access controls, encryption, and auditing Cloud Integration: Manage databases in AWS/Azure/GCP environments Automation: Implement CI/CD for database provisioning and operations Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for performance degradation, node failures, or data loss incidents Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and architectural blueprints Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience Over 5 years of Database Administration Cloud Computing / Distributed Systems Certifications in MongoDB or Couchbase or DataStax Cassandra AWS/Azure/GCP certifications Required Skills 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience in NoSQL databases Have deep expertise in at least one NoSQL DB (MongoDB, Couchbase, Cassandra, and Amazon Redshift ) + working knowledge of others Understand distributed systems and scaling challenges Demonstrate performance tuning and troubleshooting skills Have exposure to security and compliance controls Soft Skills Analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, proactive mindset. Compensation and Benefits: The expected starting compensation range for this position is 231000,0 PLN annually (gross). Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process. This role is eligible for an annual bonus, based on performance and eligibility.
