QA Test Engineer - Digital Products

Location: Reading, PA, United States

Why Join Digital Products at Penske
Most people know Penske for our big yellow trucks. But we’re so much more than that. At Penske we have a 50-plus year history of leading the transportation and supply-chain industry, delivering world-class and award-winning technology solutions.

What most people don’t know, we are just as much a data company as we are a transportation and supply chain company. We collect and analyze billions of datapoints each year, through over 300+ advanced analytical models and integrate insights from our fleet, maintenance operations, and logistics networks to give customers a more complete view of their supply chains. That connected intelligence allows us to anticipate issues, optimize resources, and deliver reliable outcomes across transportation and logistics for our customers. Penske continues to invest in, and grow, our digital products – and we need talent at all levels to help us advance and continue to lead our industry.

While data is very important, the key to our success is our people. You’ll work alongside great people and on really cool projects. Ultimately, you’ll help develop and ensure our technology solutions keep our company and our customers moving forward.

Position Summary:
As a Penske QA Automation Test Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of digital products in a modern SaaS and product-driven environment. This role is embedded within an Agile product team and is responsible for building and maintaining automated testing solutions that enable continuous delivery and high system uptime.

Working closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers, and other quality engineers, you will contribute to both product discovery and delivery by ensuring quality is built into the development process—not tested at the end. You will help drive a shift-left testing approach, enabling faster feedback, improved customer experiences, and scalable, high-performing digital solutions.

This position is based out of our corporate offices in Reading. PA. This an office first position, at least 4 days in office.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Engineering & Automation

• Ensure comprehensive test coverage for new features and enhancements in web, mobile, and platform environments
• Continuously improve automation strategies to increase speed, reliability, and scalability of testing

Agile Product Team Collaboration
• Act as a core member of an Agile product team, partnering with Product Managers and Engineers to define acceptance criteria and quality standards
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives with a focus on quality outcomes
• Contribute to early-stage design and development discussions to proactively identify risks and improve testability

Continuous Testing & CI/CD Integration
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment
• Enable rapid feedback loops by ensuring tests run efficiently and reliably across environments
• Support release readiness by validating system stability, performance, and scalability

Defect Prevention & Root Cause Analysis
• Analyze defects to identify root causes and partner with engineering teams to implement long-term solutions
• Advocate for preventative quality practices to reduce recurring issues and improve system stability
• Ensure defects are well-documented, prioritized, and resolved efficiently

Data, Performance & Reliability Focus
• Create and manage test data to support automated and performance testing scenarios
• Validate system performance, reliability, and uptime in alignment with SaaS expectations
• Partner with teams to identify and mitigate risks related to scalability and system performance

Continuous Improvement & Best Practices
• Contribute to the evolution of QA and automation standards, tools, and frameworks
• Stay current with emerging testing tools, frameworks, and industry best practices
• Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across teams

Technical Execution & Support
• Debug and troubleshoot complex test automation issues
