ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Sr Procurement Engineer, Electronics is the domain expert in the electronics commodities space for Peloton Interactive, such as semiconductors, passives, power sources, and other specialized technologies including audio, sensors, displays, tablets/consoles. They will assist the company to research future architectures and technologies for its breakthrough end to end fitness systems. This role will be responsible for developing new suppliers and new sourcing partnerships that can be incorporated into new products, as well as existing products to improve cost, efficiency or quality. Work with the broader internal cross functional teams to evaluate the opportunities, while ensuring commercial agreements, intellectual property, and project agreements are accurate and well established prior to pipelining. 

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON 

  • Act as the sourcing leader in the electronics commodities space. 
  • Develop strategic roadmaps linking to their relevant commodities, which include scanning and developing new suppliers for potential incorporation into new/existing products. 
  • Drive sourcing efforts across key electronics areas, partnering closely with software, system, electrical, and other key engineering & technology fields. 
  • Deliver a seamless transition of viable new technologies into the product development process managing risks while meeting quality, schedule, and cost goals. 
  • Collaborate internally, negotiate the right tradeoffs, solicit cooperation and resolve problems, and advance new supplier or product offerings. 
  • Provide strong technical direction within the specific commodities, by evaluating and guiding product strategy throughout the product lifecycle. 
  • Manage and lead the operations effort of developing new and adaptations of existing technologies for Peloton. 
  • Develop & execute commercial agreements to properly reflect the expectations of project, which include fixed and variable costs, lead-times, schedules, manufacturing capacities, etc.
  • Conduct regular technology reviews to Executive staff and management. 
  • Own the supplier performance management of their respective commodities, which includes key delivery, quality, cost, and innovation metrics. 
  • Act as the primary escalation for their respective commodity 
  • Accountable for Product cost & supply network scalability and flexibility throughout the lifecycle, which include:
    • Feature/value tradeoff recommendations 
    • Fotal cost of ownership optimization 
    • 3-year product cost curve, with adherence to the NTE cost target
    • Optimized, end-to-end value stream mapping & improvements
  • SPOR(Supplier Plan of Record) ownership, including multi-sourcing activities to optimize the costs and the inherent supply chain risks
  • Complexity reduction, component phase-in/phase-out roadmap, and end-to-end supplier process improvements
  • Drive the optimal total cost of ownership across the supply chain network, both in terms of nodes (FG and component suppliers) and links (lead time & flexibility), linking with our middle/final mile.
  • Partner with suppliers and engineering in optimized component selection and design via value engineering activities such as:
    • competitive teardowns/reverse engineering
    • should cost models
    • concept scoping
  • Own all associated cost engineering activities to converge the bottoms-up cost curve to product cost, maximizing the total cost of ownership across the product lifecycle
  • Conduct value-stream mapping exercises to optimize supply network lead time, total cost, and network flexibility.
  • Support cross-functional DfX activities, from the vantage points of cost, quality, supply chain, manufacturing, and serviceability
  • Drive the sourcing SPOR, ensure components are sourced by commodity mgmt. and JDM/ODM on time, on cost, and on spec.
  • Manage the CAPEX throughout NPI, leveraging necessary cost engineering activities to ensure best-in-class cost
  • Complete the BOM risk assessment analysis, including the need for alternate component sourcing, supply chain risks, etc.
  • Reduce complexity across products & platforms, including SKU rationalization, component commonality, supplier rationalization 

YOU BRING TO PELOTON 

  • Proven leadership in driving and influencing other teams to a common goal. 
  • 10+ years of experience in sourcing, engineering, manufacturing, and/or supply chain.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience in Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering or related Business degree 
  • MBA in a related field is preferred 
  • Fluent in English 
  • Domain expertise may include - Displays, Tablets/Consoles 
  • Previous experience collaborating with Asian CM/ODM/JDM/EMS. 
  • Previously managed in excess of $300M in their commodities spend. 
  • Strategic thinker, experienced putting together commodities strategy/roadmap with key engineering stakeholders. 
  • Experience negotiating complex supply agreement and SOWs - understanding of key contracting provisions/requirements 
  • Strategic problem solver, experienced putting together commodities strategy/roadmap with key engineering partners. 
  • Strong knowledge of procurement standard methodologies, strong critical thinking and analytical ability, and process orientation in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems. 
  • Experience as Windchill user is a plus 
  • Skilled in negotiation 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Comfortable leading projects, and operating in matrixed teams 
  • You should have the ability to balance multiple projects at various phases 
  • Ability to work both tactically and strategically in a team-oriented, collaborative environment to meet the needs of the business 
  • Act as a self-starter and great teammate and hold a customer-first approach 
  • Significant background with EE component demand-supply cycles with varied approaches in partnering with suppliers to ensure high demand-supply alignment in a volatile environment.
  • Well-versed in TCO analysis to ensure data-driven analytics tied to component and supplier selection, in a product-based ecosystem.
