Senior DevOps Engineer (Infrastructure & Platform)
Location: Modiin, Israel
About PeerSpot
We are a fast-growing, agile startup where your work directly impacts the product every single day. With a highly collaborative R&D team and zero corporate red tape, we are built to build, test, and ship quickly. We are currently heavily integrating AI into our core offerings and are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to help us scale safely, efficiently, and intelligently.
This role is best suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys short decision-making cycles, and wants significant individual ownership over our cloud infrastructure.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who thinks like a developer. In this role, you will take full ownership of our cloud infrastructure, optimize our deployment pipelines, and prepare our platform for its next phase of rapid growth.
Because our core application ecosystem heavily relies on Ruby on Rails, and we are moving rapidly into the AI space, you will serve as the crucial bridge between traditional operations and software engineering. We need someone who goes beyond just managing servers, a professional who truly understands software architecture, code deployment lifecycles, and the developer mindset. Stepping into this senior position, you will be expected to quickly grasp our existing environment and confidently take the reins on major infrastructure and architectural decisions from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the Infrastructure: Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure (AWS).
- Empower R&D: Work hand-in-hand with our small R&D team (5 engineers) to streamline CI/CD pipelines, reduce build times, and make deploying code seamless.
- Bridge the Dev/Ops Gap: Collaborate alongside the development team to debug performance bottlenecks, optimize Ruby/Rails environment configurations, and improve overall system reliability.
- Collaborate on AI Scaling: Partner with developers to build, monitor, and optimize the infrastructure required to run, fine-tune, and query our emerging AI capabilities.
- Monitoring & Reliability: Implement and manage robust logging, alerting, and monitoring tools to ensure high uptime and quick incident response.
Requirements
- Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) roles.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Deep proficiency with tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Containers & Orchestration: Strong expertise with Docker and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, ECS, or equivalent).
- Ruby Ecosystem Knowledge: Proven experience configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting applications built in Ruby (understanding of Bundler, Puma/Passenger, and memory management).
Nice-to-Haves (Bonus Points)
- Software Development Background: A strong understanding of modern software engineering principles. If you started your career as a developer and transitioned into DevOps, this is a huge plus!
- AI/ML Infrastructure Experience: Practical experience supporting AI/ML features (e.g., working with vector databases like Pinecone/Milvus/pgvector, managing API integrations with major LLM providers, or handling local model deployments and GPU scaling). Note: If you don't have this yet but are eager to learn, this is your chance!
Culture & Team Fit
- Scale-Up Mindset: You thrive in a dynamic environment, enjoy wearing multiple hats, and want to see the direct impact of your work every single day.
- Strategic Partner: Excellent communication skills are a must. In an R&D team of our size, you aren't just a ticket-taker—you are a strategic partner to our developers and a key driver of our architecture.
What We Offer
- Competitive Compensation: Attractive base salary and equity options.
- Work-Life Balance: Flexible working hours and a hybrid work model (4 days in the office).
- Growth & Development: High-end hardware and a dedicated budget for continuous learning (conferences, courses, etc.).
- Impactful Culture: A flat hierarchy where your voice is heard, your ideas are implemented, and your professional growth is a top priority.
