Payscale is seeking an experienced Senior Analytics Engineer, reporting to the Manager, Business Intelligence, supporting the Go-To-Market Organization.
 
The ideal candidate excels at combining their technical skills architecting and shaping data with an understanding of how to use data to answer business questions and effectively support cross-functional stakeholders. This role will lead the effort to design the strategy and structure of the data warehouse to best support the BI team’s analytics initiatives. They will work collaboratively with our data engineers, analysts, and business users to design data solutions that best meet the needs of the business today, tomorrow and in the future.
 
While the majority of time spent will be on building the data infrastructure, this individual will also have responsibility for building reports, dashboards, and conducting ad hoc analysis to support the team’s needs. This role is new to the org and will lay the data foundation that will unlock the analytic potential of the function. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and architect the data warehouse to support current and future business needs as well as setting a clear data strategy
  • Transform, join, and enrich data into analytics-ready data products to streamline reporting and analytics work for business intelligence analysts
  • Advance automation efforts that help the team spend less time manipulating & validating data and more time analyzing and story telling
  • Work collaboratively with Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, and business stakeholders to get new data into the data warehouse to meet evolving business needs 
  • Develop monitoring and alerting mechanisms to maintain integrity and reliability of the data warehouse
  • Take ownership of and further evolve the BI team code base, GIT repo, and development process
  • Investigate and resolve data issues or errors in the data warehouse and work to solve the root cause
  • Create and maintain documentation detailing data models, data dictionaries, and business logic
  • Support business-wide data governance and data integrity across platforms
  • Build reports and dashboards to surface key metrics to the business (e.g., Tableau)
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis to support stakeholder business questions
Qualifications
  • 6+ years experience in Business Intelligence, data analysis, data engineering or similar role
  • 2+ years of experience supporting revenue, customer, and/or marketing functions
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Proficiency with data modeling and query performance optimization
  • Proficiency with transforming and analyzing large scale data with modern cloud computing platforms (e.g. SparkSQL, BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks) 
  • Experience with data visualization tools and knowledge of best practices (Tableau preferred)
  • Experience with Salesforce (or other CRM) and manipulating the corresponding data in a data warehouse
  • Proficiency with Git (or similar version control) and CI/CD best practices
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to develop solutions working with multiple functional teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Willingness to share ideas, be a thought leader, and support other members of the team to uplevel their skills 

Compensation 

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $114,500 - $171,700, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for an annual corporate bonus of 10%. If you are hired at Payscale, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider any internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).
