As part of our network design and optimization platform, you'll lead a talented team of decision scientists, data scientists, and software engineers. Your focus will be on creating advanced optimization engines for our large-scale multimodal network.

In this role, you'll drive the development of high-performance algorithms, tackling exciting technical challenges to deliver optimal network designs efficiently. Your expertise in AI at scale, coupled with a passion for combining decision science and data science, will fuel the creation of groundbreaking technology. Working within a vibrant decision and data science community, you'll collaborate closely with multiple engineering teams to build end-to-end applications. Your partnership with business stakeholders will ensure that our tools seamlessly integrate into existing processes, empowering smarter decisions and enhancing our global network's efficiency.

You'll play a pivotal role in developing modern cloud-based software products, embedding core decision support tools to drive efficiencies in planning and executing our global network. Key responsibilities

• Build, direct and enable a high performing team through great people leadership skills.
• Engage business and technology stakeholders with data and metrics to identify and drive initiatives that deliver business and societal value through superior reliability, reduced carbon emissions and cost efficient network designs.
• Deliver custom implemented models and algorithms together with the team.
• Work closely with interdependent Engineering Managers to produce required design specifications to enable high performance end-2-end solutions that meets business needs and decision processes.
• Working with Product Managers to continuously deliver on the product backlog while influencing product roadmap with opportunities to deliver business value with advanced algorithms.
• Continuously work with the team and product managers to manage technical debt and technology trade-offs to deliver flexible, high quality production code for the optimization engines.
• Introduce robust optimization techniques in the volatile world of global supply chains.
• Continuously stay up-to-date on relevant technologies and use this knowledge to push the team forward.

We are looking for

• High interest in engineering, mathematics, or computer science with a good understanding of advanced algorithms and computational performance. Familiarity and experience with heuristics, mathematical modelling and machine learning is a plus.
• A great people leader with a proactive growth mindset
• Experience with Python, C++, or C# to contribute to development by mentoring, coaching and code reviewing with the team in a git workflow
• An expert in agile workflows adapted to development of advanced algorithms
• A person comfortable with brainstorming and idea generation
• An interest in driving business outcomes through technology
• Experience with machine learning, optimization under uncertainty  and the business domain of shipping is an advantage
