Job Description Summary:
What you need to know about the role:We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Quality to help design and test Invoicing and Subscription solutions for PayPal and Develop and maintain automated test frameworks, enhance CI/CD pipelines, and ensure system reliability through backend and web testing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead testing efforts, and drive quality best practices. At PayPal, we work together as small, collaborative teams. You will be a key member of the Invoicing and Subscription team, directly contributing to PayPal’s vision of reaching a billion active users.
We work closely with our design, content, and product teams to build, test, and iterate on innovative solutions that address customer needs. Our dedicated teams support Continuous Integration, Quality, and Release processes, ensuring that code is published on a weekly basis for fast-paced and efficient development cycles.

Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Staff Software Engineer, Quality to drive the entire testing life cycle. The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering requirements, planning, preparing, and executing test plans while building automation frameworks and tools. They will play a key role in designing and implementing end-to-end (E2E) automation solutions to ensure product quality and efficiency.

- Provide mentorship and guidance on best practices to team members.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to process improvements.
Your day to day
- Oversee the complete testing lifecycle, including requirement gathering, test planning, execution, and reporting.
- Develop and maintain automation frameworks for web, API, and mobile testing.
- Web and backend testing experience is required for this role.
- Experience in mobile testing and automation is a plus.
- Build, maintain, and execute E2E automation test suites for assigned projects.
- Design and implement robust test automation strategies using industry-standard tools.
- Utilize source control systems (GIT experience is an advantage).
- Work with testing frameworks such as TestNG.
- Use API tools like Postman and similar technologies.
- Ensure quality assurance (QA) methodologies are followed and continuously improved.
- Develop and maintain clear, concise documentation.
- Effectively manage concurrent assignments with different priorities.
What You Need to Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7-12 years of industry experience in software testing and automation.
- Service and UI automation experience across web and mobile applications (Experience with mobile testing using Appium or Espresso is a plus).
- Experience working with REST APIs and backend automation using Selenium and Java (Java is a required language).
- Strong experience with scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or Perl (a plus).
- Good understanding of QA methodologies and strong knowledge of QA automation processes and tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to produce clear, concise documentation.
- Highly effective at working in cross-functional groups and achieving results in matrix organizations.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience in In-Store Payments industry is an added advantage.
