Job Description Summary:

Essential Skills for the Role:
We are seeking a candidate with a robust technical foundation in Java, Spring framework, REST, gRPC, and Elasticsearch. Proficiency in Python and experience with front-end frameworks are also highly valued. Additional expertise in developing Search, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and Agentic solutions would be a significant advantage.

As part of the Customer Services (CS) Search team at PayPal, you will play a crucial role in crafting both Classic and Gen-AI-powered Search and Recommendation systems. Our team is dedicated to serving both external customers and internal staff, ensuring they have access to cutting-edge solutions that enhance their PayPal experience.

Job Description:

Your way to impact-   

You will be responsible for working with a team of engineers in designing, developing, and deploying search and recommendation solutions for different use cases. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing services, a strong technical ability, excellent project execution skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment

Your day to day – 

• Work within a team of highly talented engineers, product, and architect to design and develop a highly scalable and configurable Search Platform and Agentic solution in PayPal's Customer Services Engineering domain

• Being involved in design meetings to propose, discuss, and refine new features and functionality.

• Write tests for the existing and newly created code to maintain compatibility

• Maintain and enhance the existing architectural documentation and create new ones as needed

• Participate in code and design reviews

• Provide suggestions for continuous improvements as necessary.

• Be proactive and anticipate/handle issues before they blow up.

• Exhibit a strong backbone and challenge the status quo when needed
   

What do you need to bring-  

• 6+ years of experience building successful production software systems

• Expert knowledge in Java, Spring framework, REST, gRPC, Elasticsearch

• Experience with front-end frameworks is a big plus

• Experienced in building Search, RAG, and Agentic solution

• Experienced in Python

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to create structure and drive progress in an ambiguous environment

• Superb communication skills; ability to comfortably interact with tech and non-tech colleagues 

• Demonstrated ability to scope, create, and successfully deploy new strategies/initiatives/capabilities

• Experience in interacting with engineering teams from multiple geo-locations

• Fluent communication in English
