Staff Software engineer

What you need to know about the role: The Pricing and FX Platforms Engineering Team manages the financial infrastructure that underpins all of PayPal's verticals, facilitating revenue generation across the organization. This team provides support to multiple sectors within PayPal, such as Treasury (which encompasses cash management and foreign exchange), Pricing (involving the determination of fees for merchants and partners), and the Merchant and Partner domains. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical design and implementation of solutions, collaborating closely with team members and stakeholders to drive success.

Your day to day:

• Participate in development life cycle activities like analysis, design, coding, testing and production release.
• Be proactive with identifying areas for improvement and innovation to improve development productivity 
• Design and develop web services, database and application performance optimization
• Build networks of relationships to support dependencies outside of our team
• Implement and maintain high performance, high availability (24x7), large-scale web based software applications

What do you need to bring-

• Hands on Java Programming Expertise with a specific focus on large scale distributed systems.
• Working experience with Java Spring Boot, Scala, Kotlin, Graph QL, Kafka, Splunk.
• Experience with Big Data technologies: Spark, Hive, HBase, Elastic Search, Google Cloud Platform is a huplus.
• Solid technical foundations and problem-solving skills.
• 12+ years of experience in software product development.
• Experience in building complex, scalable and high performance web applications.
• Familiarity with languages and technologies needed for web services development, including Java, REST APIs, Hadoop, NoSQL Databases, Big Data Stack, BQ/BT, Spark, Scala, Oracle/Postgress DB, Elastic Search clusters, AWS/Azure/GCP cloud
• Strong communication skills and ability to grasp and convey complex product requirements or technical concepts.
