We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

What you need to know about the role

We are looking for of a talented software engineer to join the Partnership Risk Engineering team in Paypal. As a member of this team, you’ll work with data scientists, product managers, architects and partners/adjacencies like Xoom and Venmo to fight fraud, launch new products, and expand to new markets. This role will give you an opportunity to work on some world leading applied ML and AI features in fintech space.

Meet our team

Partnership Risk Engineering team builds solutions that allow PayPal’s subsidiaries, adjacencies and partners fight fraud. If you’ve used Venmo or Xoom – there’s a good chance that you’ve used our solutions, which allow millions of daily users to move money safely using PayPal’s products. This Team’s charter will be to design, develop and maintain systems that makes assessing risk for all User Journey touchpoints in Venmo/Xoom seamlessly possible while optimizing the overall user experience.

Your day to day

Design and implement scalable, high performing platform and services for fraud risk assessments Work with data scientists to develop and deploy solutions for real time fraud detection by leveraging ML Implement CI/CD pipelines to facilitate rapid delivery of solutions with rigorous testing methods Build real-time monitoring for detecting and mitigating red flag behaviours in systems in real-time Work closely with Product and Data Scientists on execution of Product Roadmap Participate in Incident Response Protocols and On-Call Support.

What do you need to bring

• 5 – 8 years of experience with Java, Spring, Microservices

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

• Experience working on engineering teams, delivering code in large-scale, complex software projects

• Solid understanding of Object-oriented programming (using Java) and related tools

• Demonstrated ability and understanding of automated testing principles and applications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Input, ideas, creativity – we’re a collaborative team, and want our engineers to collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders to solve problems
