This Software Engineer role will help develop and launch key product features for PayPal Zettle & Invoicing organization. The person should be a highly motivated, versatile, individual responsible for the design, development and delivery of state-of-the-art native mobile experiences for PayPal merchants.

Looking for technically strong candidate, with hands on development experience in Android using Kotlin/Java, who is self-motivated, team player, with curiosity to learn and grow, exhibiting strong resolve and challenge the status quo, to strive for excellence in everything they do, with good professional and academic track record to be part of a team that deals with most innovative payments processing team that deals transactions at scale.

Our charter is to double down and drive the next wave of growth for PayPal’s micro business merchants, provide platform expansion through ubiquity, bring in increased revenue to contribute actively to our organisations mission of democratising financial services.

The prospective candidate will be working with various cross functional groups (business, product, analytics, user experience design and engineering) and will require admirable articulation skills. You will be responsible for Developing efficient, elegant, clean and reusable code. Mentor other junior engineers by providing technical and business-related guidance and resources; Should exhibit ownership and Deliver quality solutions on schedule. Will be responsible to create / Review well-articulated, detailed design documents.
 

Your day to day
In your day-to-day role, you will:
•    Develop and maintain  high performing, reusable Java and Kotlin code and stay current with the newest mobile technologies. 
•    Collaborate with the design and product teams to understand project requirements.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration of front-end and back-end components.
•    Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices to support data retrieval and manipulation.
•    Reduce tech-debt and have a plan to remove them from the system.   
•    Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure high-quality code.
•    Troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues to ensure smooth application performance.
•    Participate in agile development methodologies and contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and execution.
•    Define and develop processes, tools and methodologies to achieve excellence in software development, testing and deployment, follow coding standards and guidelines with attention to performance, scalability, and availability.  

What do you need to bring-
•    Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of technical education and work experience. 
•    5+ years of Android development experience with solid Java and Kotlin programming skills   
•    Solid understanding of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.  
•    Experience building Android applications connected to RESTful APIs.   
•    Good knowledge in android architecture, good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.   
•    Understanding of DevOps principles and experience with CI/CD pipelines.
•    Experience with performance optimization techniques.
•    Knowledge of security best practices.
•    Good communication and collaboration skills.
