Senior Infrastructure Engineer

PayPal is seeking an experienced senior infrastructure Engineer to join the Site Reliability and Cloud Engineering organization in the infrastructure space. SRCE Infrastructure charter is to build and support core infrastructure and aggregation services for PayPal Site and Dev environments supporting the product development team and to keep the PayPal site up and running all the time. A senior infrastructure engineer within the Paypal Cloud Center of Excellence and Autorouting team has knowledge and ideas on how to build and support core aggregation services infrastructure, lead highly motivated team of peer engineers as a mentor, influence architecture decisions, monitor and bring in efficiency in every possible way. The ideal candidate will have strong understanding and experience in F5 Big-IP, GTM, Networking protocols, Linux and CLI administration and Enterprise scale Software Load Balancers (VMWare NSX AVI). Autorouting Engineering Team manages critical Load balancing and aggregation service across PayPal Core Site Infrastructure. Site Reliability engineering is accountable for lifecycle management of core platform services.
Your day to day

You will deliver technical excellence to Site Reliability Engineering -Load Balancing and Aggregation services team, focused on core networking principles to review setup, build and architect load balancing services across security and availability zones in a hybrid cloud infrastructure.

Role requires niche technology understanding and in-depth troubleshooting skills to support on-call rotation to keep core aggregation services (Load Balancers and GSLB, DNS, NTP, Mail) up and running 24x7. This individual being a senior member of the engineering team must be able to lead and influence architecture decisions and mentor peers. This role also requires individual to keep the healthy on-call rotation (PST daytime hours) available to support these key services.

More than 10 years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, networking protocols is required.
Strong experience with F5 BIG-IP, VMWare AVI Vantage Load Balancers or any other enterprise scale load balancers is a must.
Solid understanding and expertise of Linux operating system, Unix shell scripting on bash or Bourne shell required.
Good understanding of virtualization technologies highly desirable.
Working experience in a hybrid cloud environment is required.
Experience in running DNS at enterprise scale is highly desired. monitoring, ability to write custom scripts/plugins for custom monitoring a plus.
Strong technical/analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written across all user levels. Ability to create simple procedural documents.
Good team player, self-starter, goal oriented, open minded, flexible and customer focused.
Experience supporting enterprise-class monitoring tools for network/systems/applications.
