We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

PayPal, Inc. seeks Manager, Software Development 2 in San Jose, CA

Job Duties: Design, develop and implement engineering solutions (Applications, Microservices, tools, systems, infrastructures) to detect and prevent suspicious activities in the PayPal system. Code highly available, testable, scalable, monitor-able components using primarily Java/C++. Work with RISK infrastructure and platform teams to design, develop and support Risk APIs to detect and prevent fraud. Monitor real-time ATB (availability to business) of Risk services that directly impacts decision capability of transactions through Pay Pal. Analyze users' needs and provide quick and efficient solutions for real-time issues by analyzing complex workflows in different services. Solve large scale highly complex computer engineering problems. Build strong competencies in data structures and algorithms. Collaborate with products team to gather requirements and create software prototypes where necessary. Monitor production environments, code rollouts and setup post release processes and checklists. Work with architects and DTLs to validate designs, load analysis and application performance tuning, setting up event streams to publish and consume risk messages. Establish and follow engineering best practices within team and across teams and closely collaborate with other engineering teams. Ensure overall quality of features using test driven development, defensive coding and automation test script implementation. Lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced, dynamic, and global environment to achieve and exceed organizational and individual goals. Lead engineering support, release, and on-call responsibilities. Set development plans and conduct routine performance reviews to track organizational and individual goals. Coach and train team members to be high performing contributors. Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field plus five years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Additional Job Description:

Salary: $226,158.00-287,100.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
