We are seeking a talented Lead Principal Engineer to join our AI/ML Platform and Solutions organization. In this role, you will design and lead projects end-to-end, architecting innovative and cloud-agnostic data solutions. You will collaborate with global, cross-functional teams from both Business and Technology domains to meet complex business demands. Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and creative problem-solving abilities are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Additionally, you will lead and mentor team members, fostering their growth and development.

We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starter Senior ML Engineer to join our AIML Engineering team to help achieve this mission. This role will help shape the next generation of checkout at PayPal impacting over 400+ million consumers and 30+ million merchants worldwide by creating AI/ML foundations and capabilities that deliver a delightful and personalized shopping and checkout experience.

Your day-to-day 

As one of the most senior engineers in the team, you will be the go-to person for any technical issues and decisions internally, and partner with other teams and partners representing the team within a globally distributed org

• · Design, build, and maintain scalable and robust data pipelines and architectures to support data collection, transformation, and integration from various sources.

  ·     Utilize advanced SQL and programming skills to query, manipulate, and manage large datasets effectively. Ensure data integrity, optimize database performance, and enhance database operations.

  ·       Deploy, monitor, and maintain Machine Learning models and build AI Products in production environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

  ·       Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements, provide technical support, and ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of data systems.

  ·       Lead and mentor team members, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high standards of engineering excellence.

  ·       Demonstrate effective communication skills by clearly articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  ·       Facilitate seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams from Business and Technology domains to align project goals, gather requirements, and drive successful project outcomes.

 What do you need to bring 
Qualifications: 

• Solid track record of over-achieving engineering and platform delivery and scaling targets in high volume, innovative and fast-paced high-pressure environment; proven results in delivery on platform products.   
• Masters / bachelor’s in computer science, Computer engineering, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Information Systems, or related disciplines, with technical expertise in one or more of the above-mentioned areas or equivalent practical experience.  
• Strong proficiency in machine learning concepts, algorithms, and techniques, with hands-on experience in developing and deploying machine learning models.  
• Expert in multiple Programming/scripting languages, i.e. Unix/Linux Shell Scripting, Python, Java, Scala.
• Expertise in Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, HBase, Kafka.
• Proficiency in SQL, ETL, database design
• Good understanding of NoSQL database like HBase, Redis, Aerospike. 
• Good understanding of distributed systems, data streaming, complex event Processing, NoSQL solutions for creating and managing data integration pipelines for batch and Real Time data needs. 
• Proficiency in machine learning libraries/frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.  
• Expertise with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Experience in Azure is a plus
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI/ML technology and industry trends, and leverage this knowledge to build enhanced capabilities.  
• Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and alignment driving skills; able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner  
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to inspire, mentor, and empower team members to achieve their full potential.
