We need a VP. Data and Architecture to lead our data strategy, drive insights from complex datasets, and leverage analytics to optimize business performance. This role is pivotal in shaping our data-driven decision-making processes, driving innovation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
This is a full-time role and will work a hybrid schedule based in Lehi, UT.
What is a day in the life of a VP of Data and Architecture?
- Develop and execute the data strategy to drive business objectives, managing incoming data requests and assigning them to team members according to individual’s ability.
- Lead a team of data experts to act as business consultants and collaborate cross-functionally to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions.
- Design data models for both analytics and custom applications.
- Provide easy to consume data directly to partners through Snowflake.
- Administer Pattern’s cloud data warehouse, Tableau, and ETL pipeline, maintaining it architecturally, overseeing its performance and users, and managing associated costs.
- Lead and mentor a team of 30-40 business intelligence engineers, data engineers, and domain analysts.
- Oversee the design and implementation of analytics solutions to solve complex business problems.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in data analytics and intelligence.
- Establish and maintain data governance policies and procedures.
- Make proposals and suggestions on how to solve data problems and present insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
What will I need to thrive in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university.
- Expert experience with SQL.
- Experience with Tableau, PowerBI, or other data visualization tools, and the ability to tell stories and answer questions using these tools.
- Experience using Python and Snowflake preferred.
- 7+ years of leadership experience, managing a team of at least 10 people.
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering and modeling.
- Ability to act as a business consultant and get to the root of what needs to be solved.
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders and understand the proper priority of tasks.
- Proven experience in leading data analytics teams and implementing data-driven strategies.
- Experience with data governance and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) preferred.
