Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Assistant Resident Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to work on the premier Infrastructure project in the US.

Program background

The Gateway Program is the most urgent infrastructure program in the country – a comprehensive set of rail investments that will improve commuter and intercity services, add needed resiliency and, in its later stages, create new capacity between Newark, New Jersey and New York City, the busiest section of the Northeast Corridor (NEC). The first phase of the Gateway Program includes the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP), which includes the construction of a new two-track tunnel under the Hudson River connecting to Penn Station New York as well as the full rehabilitation of the existing 110-year-old North River Tunnel. The Gateway Development Commission (GDC), established through bi-state legislation, is responsible for the financing and development of the Hudson Tunnel Project.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Supervise daily construction activities on-site to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards, particularly in areas involving large shafts, excavation, and tunneling.

  • Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising construction activities, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring compliance with project requirements and specifications.

  • Act as the main liaison between contractors, site supervisors, and project engineers to resolve on-site issues, clarify project requirements, and ensure smooth coordination and alignment on project objectives.

  • Enforce safety protocols and monitor compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations specific to heavy civil and tunneling work.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and initiate corrective actions for any identified risks or non-compliance.

  • Prepare detailed daily and weekly reports on construction progress, site conditions, and any challenges encountered.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of on-site activities, including inspections, test results, and incident reports, ensuring accurate documentation of project milestones.

  • Identify and resolve on-site engineering and construction issues as they arise, particularly those unique to excavation and tunneling operations.

  • This role leverages deep expertise in heavy civil and excavation projects to support efficient project delivery and uphold high standards of safety and quality with local experience helpful but not required

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

  • 8+ years of previous experience in construction projects, preferably in a similar capacity.

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, quality control procedures, and safety regulations.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Effective communication, teamwork, and leadership capabilities.

  • Willingness to work night shifts and adapt to non-traditional working hours.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Ten plus years of heavy civil large shafts and excavation experience and preference towards someone with tunneling experience.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications are a plus.

Security Clearance Requirement:
