Company Overview:
At Panopto, we are the most customer-centric learning technology company in the world. As the leader in visual and audio-based learning, we empower organizations to share knowledge effortlessly in a capture and post-capture world. We don’t just build software; we obsess over our users’ goals to deliver solutions that truly matter. Our mission is simple: to attract the brightest talent, people like you, to Elevate the Craft and do the most impactful work of your career.
As we continue to support growth and expansion, we are seeking an experienced Senior AI Product Manager whose technical depth and entrepreneurial mindset will drive the next generation of AI-powered capabilities.
Position Summary
In this role, you will have the opportunity to do the most impactful work of your career, elevating your craft while contributing to a team that values lifelong learning.
The Senior AI Product Manager owns strategy, discovery, definition, and delivery for customer-facing AI-powered product capabilities. This role combines senior product management leadership with hands-on technical validation—using codebase analysis and functional prototypes to give engineering an executable starting point rather than a written specification, while owning the economics, quality, and security of shipped AI features
You will serve as a strategic advisor, utilizing structured product frameworks (e.g., Jobs to Be Done (JTBD), Opportunity Solution Trees) while also establishing AI-driven workflows that elevate practices across the broader product team.
At Panopto, we collaborate as a team which may mean taking on additional tasks or projects within the scope of your role. This also offers growth opportunities and helps us scale as business needs evolve. You’ll also have opportunities to contribute to other initiatives that directly advance our core values and support you in elevating your craft.
How You’ll Contribute
In this role, you will:
-
AI Product Ownership: Own AI product capabilities through discovery and delivery, incorporating model behavior, data requirements, evaluation methods (evals), unit economics (cost-per-task, model selection, caching), quality, security considerations, and gross margin impact into product decisions.
-
Strategy & Roadmapping: Develop and maintain product vision and roadmaps for assigned AI capabilities, prioritizing investments based on customer needs, product analytics, market context, and business outcomes.
-
Technical Prototyping & Feasibility: Evaluate software codebases and build functional prototypes that give Engineering an executable starting point rather than a written specification.
-
Team AI Workflow Optimization: Establish, maintain, and share repeatable AI-driven workflows that improve discovery, prototyping, analysis, and delivery practices across the broader Product team.
-
Discovery & Delivery Leadership: Lead product discovery using customer research, competitive analysis, and structured frameworks. Drive execution across cycles while managing cross-functional dependencies, risks, and milestones.
-
Mentorship & Enablement: Mentor product team members on discovery practices, technical evaluation, and effective use of AI workflows. Support go-to-market teams with demonstrations, documentation, and technical domain expertise.
What Success Looks Like
-
Within 3 Months: Complete an audit of Panopto's AI capabilities and develop a point of view on gaps and opportunities. Deliver one executable prototype that demonstrates a future opportunity you believe is worth considering for future roadmap development.
-
Within 6 Months: Bring one customer-facing AI capability to engineering readiness: prototype accepted, eval suite and quality thresholds defined, guardrails and failure modes specified, costs modeled. Prepare GTM enablement for the first AI release.
-
Within 12 Months: Two AI capabilities live with a documented contribution to the retention and expansion case. Consistently operating a quarter ahead of Engineering on definition and discovery.
Values in Action
-
Customer First, Always: You proactively surface friction points in the customer experience before they are escalated — and propose solutions, not just reports.
-
Thrive Together: You share work-in-progress for early feedback, knowing that challenge improves the outcome. You separate critiques of ideas from critiques of people.
-
Elevate the Craft: You hold the bar high on your own work and invest in developing those around you. You treat every project as an opportunity to learn something new.
-
Act with Ownership: You define success by outcomes, not activity. You flag problems early and bring a proposed path forward, not just the problem.
-
Clarity Over Complexity: You default to the simpler solution. Your written communication — internal or external — is direct, specific, and free of filler.
How We Thrive
This position reports to the Senior Director of Product Management. The Product organization’s primary function is to ideate, define, and deliver best-in-class products and solutions to our valued customers. To deliver on this commitment, the team assesses market trends, performs strategic and competitive analysis, conducts customer research and interviews, and deep feasibility and viability assessment to identify areas of opportunities to make product investment decisions. We ruthlessly prioritize opportunities with high ROI and work with R&D to deliver highly scalable and reliable products in a timely fashion. The team is maniacally focused on every aspect of customer experience and continually explores areas of improvement.
The Foundation for Success
-
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 8-10+ years of product management experience in SaaS or software environments, with a proven track record of shipping products from concept through launch.
-
Product Leadership & Execution: Experience developing product vision and roadmaps, and leading product discovery, on complex, multi-team initiatives.
-
Technical & Codebase Depth: Proven ability to read and evaluate software codebases to assess technical feasibility, dependencies, scope, and sequencing.
-
Prototyping & Developer Workflows: Hands-on experience building functional prototypes and utilizing standard developer workflows (e.g., Git) to validate solutions.
-
AI/ML Competency: Practical experience managing AI capabilities, including data pipelines, model evaluation (evals), and AI security guardrails.
-
Discovery & Analytics: Strong foundation in customer research, competitive analysis, product analytics, and structured discovery frameworks (e.g., JTBD, RICE, Opportunity Solution Trees).
-
Autonomy & Stakeholder Management: Self-reliant decision-maker skilled at aligning cross-functional partners and translating complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
-
Go-To-Market & Enablement: Ability to support customer-facing teams with product demonstrations, documentation, training, and domain expertise.
-
Travel: Ability to travel minimally as required by business needs.
What Sets You Apart
-
Domain Expertise: Experience in EdTech / Higher Education, Corporate L&D, video infrastructure, or platform integration ecosystems (LMS, LTI, SSO, APIs).
-
SaaS Business Acumen: Familiarity with enterprise SaaS metrics, subscription models, and customer lifecycle dynamics (e.g., ARR, NRR, churn, retention).
-
Team Leadership: Track record of mentoring or coaching product managers.

Panopto AI Use Policy:
Panopto’s AI Use Policy is committed to a hiring process that is thoughtful, fair, and centered on human connection. As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more prevalent in the workplace, we believe that it is important to describe our use of AI in the hiring process, as well as outline to candidates what use of AI is and is not allowed. While AI can be a valuable tool, it cannot replace genuine human interaction or an individual’s unique perspective, experience, and voice.
Company Use of AI:

Bias Mitigation: We are committed to algorithmic fairness. Our AI-assisted tools undergo regular independent audits to detect and mitigate bias, with the goal of keeping our processes equitable and inclusive. Our methodology aligns with global best practices and regional digital ethics standards to provide every candidate with a fair and merit-based evaluation.
Your Rights & Accommodations: We provide inclusive access for all applicants. If you require a reasonable adjustment due to a disability, or if you prefer a non-automated review of your application, please contact Panopto Talent Attraction. Data Privacy and Security:
Your personal data and recordings are processed securely in compliance with global privacy and employment regulations (including EEOC, GDPR, and other local or regional privacy laws, as applicable).
To facilitate our recruitment and evaluation process, limited candidate data may be shared securely with trusted third-party vendors and service providers acting on our behalf.
