We are looking for a Senior Materials Engineer  to join our research and development team in creating the next generation of products at Oura. You will also contribute to ongoing materials development work across the company in the US and Finland. 

Working with multi-functional engineering, product design, and sourcing teams, you will identify and develop materials technologies to satisfy both aesthetic and engineering needs, and help drive testing and validation for use in Oura’s products. 

What you will do: 

  • Drive advancement of materials and processes for oura products.
  • Play a significant role in deciding what materials technologies to pursue. 
  • Work with multi-disciplinary engineering and product design to create materials requirements and specifications.  
  • Identify the best engineering path to implement new materials technology in Oura products, including finding new materials technologies that satisfy aesthetic and engineering requirements.
  • Lead materials development projects to production including defining materials testing and validation.

This is a San Diego, USA based roll with opportunity for some remote work.

We would love to have you on our team if you have:

  • Offer at least 5 years of experience in a materials engineering capacity
  • Knowledge of materials fundamentals, characterization and analysis methods. (Microscopy, mechanical testing etc.)
  • Direct experience working on materials selection, testing, and development for consumer products.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to use statistical tools and techniques. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, drive projects, and deliver products
