Engineering Manager, Membership

As the Engineering Manager for Membership, you play a key role innovating, building and operating Oura’s membership services. You support a strong software engineering team, fostering a culture of agility, quality, operational excellence and customer focus. The membership engineering team is located in Helsinki and we are looking for someone who can work from our Helsinki Office (minimum once a week).

In this role you will:

• Enable the company to reach its goals by innovating, building and operating the membership services reliably and efficiently with your team.
• Nurture and develop the Membership engineering team as their direct manager, enabling them to do their best work and contribute to the company's success.
• Hold regular 1-on-1s with your engineers, ensuring their well-being, coaching and supporting them in their career growth.
• Promote engineering excellence, establish key metrics, and drive continuous operational improvements.
• Provide leadership for team initiatives by coordinating the work, facilitating the stakeholder discussions, driving problem solving when needed, ensuring adequate staffing and competence for a successful outcome.
• Work with other engineering leaders to promote best practices and a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.
• Collaborate with other engineering managers on how we lead the teams and clarify our vision and goals and to build a fantastic work environment for our engineers.
• Create hiring plans and drive recruitment to attract and retain the best talent around the world.

We would love to have you on our team if you have:

• Track record of building and shipping successful products with your team.
• At least 3 years of experience as a people manager in a software engineering team, as a team lead or an engineering manager.
• Passion towards building a great engineering culture and sharing knowledge and best practices across teams.
• Basic understanding and experience of a cloud based infrastructure for a commercial product, understanding of payment systems and platforms is a plus.
• Excited about creating well-functioning agile teams and removing barriers for them.
• Experience in leading diverse, geographically-distributed teams, adept at navigating the complexities of multiple locations and time zones effectively.
• Excellent communication skills.
