Sydney | Melbourne | Brisbane | Hybrid Work Model | Competitive base + super + benefits

We are not your typical internal IT team. We are technically sharp, curious and improvement focused, and we are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to own and mature the platforms Orro runs on. Orro designs and operates digital infrastructure for some of Australia's biggest brands, and we hold our own internal environment to exactly the same standard. This is the senior technical seat in the team. You will set the standards, lead the uplift work from design through to handover, and lift the capability of the engineers around you.

About Orro

We're an Australian success story, now close to 500 people strong, delivering secure, end to end digital solutions across cloud, collaboration, cyber security, data services and network infrastructure, all backed by over 20 years of experience. Trusted by some of Australia's biggest brands, Orro leads the way in designing, building and operating digital infrastructure that delivers greater efficiency, agility, performance and resilience. Our solutions take the stress out of tech for more than 400 businesses and over 20 million Australians every single day.

Our mission? To create "future now" solutions making it faster, simpler and safer for people to access, store and share information, wherever they are and whoever they're with. But more than that, we know that real impact comes from connecting people, not just machines. That's why we take the time to understand our clients; how they work, what matters to them, and where they're headed so we can deliver not just what they need today, but what they'll need next.

With offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth, and teams across New Zealand, the Philippines and the UK, Orro is known for delivering future ready solutions, backed by deep expertise, genuine human insight and lasting partnerships.

What You'll Be Doing

Internal IT owns and operates the platforms every Orro employee depends on, from identity and endpoints through to collaboration, cloud and virtual desktop. Reporting to the Head of Internal IT, you will take ownership of those platforms, act as the senior escalation point, and lead the technical improvements that keep them secure, reliable and well documented as the business grows.

You will work alongside the Security, Cloud, Network and Infrastructure teams, plus vendors, auditors and business stakeholders, in a Microsoft centric, cloud first environment. Your focus sits on design, delivery, automation and standards rather than day to day support, though you will step into escalated work where it counts.

The role runs to standard business hours with participation in the Internal IT on call roster, occasional out of hours work, and minimal interstate travel for workshops and team collaboration.

  • Own and improve core Internal IT platforms across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Azure, endpoints, collaboration, virtual desktop, backup and monitoring

  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex identity, endpoint, cloud, access and platform issues, including root cause analysis and post change validation

  • Lead technical improvements, lifecycle initiatives and security uplift from design through to implementation and handover

  • Strengthen identity, access and endpoint practices including Conditional Access, MFA, privileged access, device compliance, configuration baselines and least privilege controls

  • Administer and mature Azure and hybrid services covering virtual machines, storage, backup, monitoring, RBAC, patching, resource governance and recovery readiness

  • Use scripting and automation to reduce manual effort, standardise operational workflows, improve reporting and lift reliability

  • Mentor Systems Engineers and Systems Administrators, and keep standards, runbooks, configuration records and audit evidence genuinely useful

What You'll Bring

The Essentials

  • 8+ years in systems engineering, cloud engineering, modern workplace, infrastructure or identity, with strong hands on depth across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and Azure

  • Practical identity and access management experience covering Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, privileged access and least privilege, along with hybrid identity across Active Directory and Entra Connect

  • Strong endpoint management across Intune, Windows 10/11, Autopilot, compliance policies, application deployment and security baselines

  • Azure administration across virtual machines, storage, backup, monitoring, Log Analytics and RBAC, backed by scripting and automation with PowerShell, Microsoft Graph or Azure CLI

  • Proven end to end ownership of production platforms, from design and implementation through to documentation and handover, with the communication skills to explain technical risk and trade offs to technical and non technical stakeholders

Bonus Points

  • Azure Landing Zones and cloud governance, including Azure Policy, management groups, tagging and subscription provisioning with Bicep, Terraform or similar infrastructure as code tooling

  • Exposure to Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Purview or Defender for Cloud

  • Certifications such as AZ 104, MD 102, SC 300, MS 102, SC 200 or Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or audit experience across ISO 27001, IRAP, Essential Eight or PCI DSS

Even if you don't tick every box, don't let that hold you back. If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we'd genuinely love to hear from you.
