Principal Software Development Engineer (IC4) - Network Region Build (NRB)

What You’ll Do

As a Principal Software Development Engineer, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain production software supporting OCI network deployment and lifecycle management.
• Build and evolve engineering platforms, APIs, automation services, and operational systems that enable OCI’s global network infrastructure.
• Own software solutions throughout their lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to deployment, operations, and continuous improvement.
• Develop scalable automation using modern programming languages and software engineering practices.
• Partner with Network Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, and Network Automation teams to transform operational challenges into scalable software solutions.
• Design and implement resilient, observable, and highly available platform services.
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, performance, and operational efficiency.
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, deployment workflows, and release processes.
• Troubleshoot production software, infrastructure, and networking issues across distributed systems.
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to the long-term architecture of NRB engineering platforms.
• Develop technical documentation, engineering standards, runbooks, and operational best practices.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software development, testing, debugging, documentation, and operational workflows while applying sound engineering judgment and validating all outputs.
• Mentor engineers through technical leadership, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to simplify operations through software and automation.

As a Principal Software Development Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain the engineering platforms, automation, and services that support OCI’s global network expansion. Working at the intersection of software engineering, distributed systems, infrastructure engineering, and networking, you will build scalable solutions that improve reliability, automation, and operational efficiency across OCI Regions and next-generation AI data centers. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building production software, owning platforms end-to-end, and solving complex infrastructure challenges at hyperscale. Engineers may occasionally travel to OCI data centers to support deployments, validate platform capabilities and troubleshoot production issues.
