The SaaS Tools and Innovation (TINNO) team utilizes state-of-the-art technology stacks, advanced data analytics, and machine learning, to advance Oracle's internal tools. Specifically, our role is to further Oracle's goals through proactive, engaged interactions with customers and through providing key insights to Oracle, her partners, and her customers.

 

We are looking for a Database Engineer who can utilize their analytical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets. They then use this information to develop data-driven solutions to difficult business challenges. Database Engineer must have a bachelor's degree in computer science and should have a wide range of technical competencies described below.

 

The candidate must have strong database modelling and DML experience with a proven ability to drive business results with data-based implementation and insights. The candidate must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams.

 

As a member of this team, the engineer will be responsible for researching and obtaining data relevant to customer success and for analyzing, designing, implementing, and testing software that drives estimates of customer success and continued renewal. The position and the project are critical to Oracle's future success with SaaS customers, especially with respect to renewals based on that success.

 

Responsibilities

  • Working with Software Engineer Architects to design and implement best-in-class software solutions.
  • Perform database administration functions as required for Applications.
  • Work with Internal and External members to support DBA functions.
  • Assist in analyzing, and performance tuning test and production databases.
  • Propose database changes to ease monitoring and administrative effort.
  • Monitor and analyze database activity to proactively identify and prevent potential incidents and also recommend performance improvements.
  • Participate in situation management of incidents related to database operations.
  • Report and remediate all security violations.
  • Design Database Implementations and solutions that meets requirements, is performant, stable, and of high quality, and that is built for the future.
  • Implementing ETLs and tools to systems in order to extract needed data and to inject the data into a data warehouse.
  • Implementing algorithms to summarize and classify the data into meaningful results.
  • Implementing Database Functions, Procedures and queries to display the resulting data in a clean, easily-understood interface.
  • Testing the implementation, both via automated unit-tests and manually.
  • Maintain practices and key information in a wiki and in Jira.
  • Determine factors relevant to customer success.
  • Research cloud software in order to understand best practices in this area.
  • Work within Email, Slack, and meetings to research and analyze potential systems for access to needed data.
  • Enter enhancements requests for systems in Jira.
  • Write design ideas and proposals and present them to the team for consideration.
  • Utilize Oracle SaaS products as required.
  • Work within standards, acceptable practices, and other requirements of Oracle Corporation and of the SaaS Development organization.

 

Proficiencies

  • 7+ years of industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Oracle Database .Working knowledge of Unix/Linux Shell Scripting (basic commands).
  • Must have an excellent understanding of Oracle Functions, Procedures and writing complex and efficient Oracle DB queries.
    • Experience with ETL tools is a plus.
  • Must have worked on distributed systems that involves interaction with multiple systems, related to data pull and push.
  • Familiar with tuning utilities and reports. For example, AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQLT, SQL Tuning Advisor, SQL tracing and analysis, database event tracing etc.
  • Extensive experience IDE's like SQL Developer.
  • Excellent understanding of GIT.
  • Knowledge of data science or machine learning techniques is a plus.
  • Must be fluent in English (Verbal and Written).
