The role

As an Engineering Manager at One, you will lead our Infrastructure team which is responsible for building the foundational systems that enable engineers to serve our customers. To be successful, you'll need strong developer empathy, a passion for mentoring and developing talented engineers, deep technical skills, and solid business acumen.

This role is responsible for:

  • Leading and growing an exceptional team of Infrastructure Engineers

  • Aligning team priorities with business needs to ensure the highest value work is prioritized

  • Working closely with peers across platform and product engineering to support the delivery of high-quality products at a fast pace 

  • Championing infrastructure self-service capabilities to create an environment of ownership and rapid delivery without sacrificing automation, scalable design, and architectural best practices

  • Coordinating with our Security team to provide hardened solutions

You bring

  • 10+ years of professional experience building, shipping - and growing - mission-critical infrastructure; an additional 2+ years of mentoring, and/or managing teams.

  • Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts and architecture, AWS is strongly preferred.

  • Pragmatic approach to finding solutions for complex, cross-functional challenges

  • Passion for your craft and care for the people you work with. You value quality across code, communication, and culture.

Tools we use

We use Terraform to manage all of our critical infrastructure in a uniform way. Our environments are AWS-first, running workloads on Kubernetes, and built to be highly observable and scalable.  We believe great engineers can learn any stack, so you do not need experience with these specific tools, but you’ll ramp up more quickly if you are familiar with public cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) concepts.

Pay Transparency

The estimated annual base salary for this position ranges from $175,000 to $250,000. Pay is generally based upon the level, complexity, responsibility, and job duties / requirements of the specific position. Leveling Philosophy

In order to thoughtfully scale the company and avoid downstream inequities, we’ve adopted a flat titling structure at One. Though we may occasionally post a role externally with a prefix such as “Senior” to reflect the external level of the position, we do not use prefixes in titles like that internally unless in a position which manages a team. Internal titles typically include your specific functional responsibility, such as engineering, product management or sales, and often include additional descriptors to ensure clarity of role and placement within our organization (i.e. “Engineer, Platform”, “Sales, Business Development” or “Manager, Talent”). Employees are paid commensurate with their experience and the internal level within One.
