Quality Assurance Engineer - Automation
Location: Mexico
Department: Software Platform
ON.energy is setting the standard for large load interconnection. ON’s patented AI UPS™ is a medium-voltage UPS that serves as a firewall, protecting the data center from the grid, and the grid from the data center. With multiple gigawatts currently under construction, we are enabling grid-safe data centers.
Job Summary
We are looking for a QA Engineer with strong Python skills and hands-on experience in UI automation (Playwright, Selenium) to design, build, and maintain automated test suites. You'll work closely with developers and product teams to ensure high-quality releases through a mix of automated and manual testing practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated UI test scripts using Playwright and/or Selenium with Python
- Build and maintain a scalable test automation framework (Page Object Model or similar design patterns)
- Perform API testing (using Postman, requests library, or REST Assured) to validate backend functionality
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)
- Identify, log, and track defects through resolution using tools like JIRA
- Analyze test results, debug failures, and maintain test stability (handling flaky tests, waits, synchronization issues)
- Collaborate with developers and product owners to understand requirements and define test strategy/coverage
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives)
- Maintain test documentation — test plans, test cases, and automation coverage reports
- Contribute to code reviews of test scripts and automation framework improvements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of QA experience with a strong focus on automation
- Proficient in Python for test scripting
- Hands-on experience with Playwright and/or Selenium WebDriver
- Solid understanding of SDLC, STLC, and QA methodologies (manual + automated)
- Experience with test management/bug tracking tools (JIRA, TestRail, Zephyr)
- Familiarity with version control and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with API testing tools/libraries (Postman, requests, REST Assured)
- Strong understanding of test design techniques (boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning, etc.)
- Good analytical, debugging, and communication skills
Preferred/Nice-to-Have
- Experience with pytest or unittest frameworks
- Exposure to Docker/containerized test environments
- Experience with BDD frameworks (Behave, pytest-bdd, Cucumber)
- ISTQB certification
- Basic SQL/database validations
