What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, develop, and operate automated options market making systems covering market data, pricing, quoting, order execution, hedging, positions, and risk controls.
- Work closely with trading, quantitative, and product teams to translate business requirements into reliable, testable production systems.
- Contribute to the development of trading systems and continuously improve the performance, stability, and maintainability of critical trading paths.
- Follow an AI-native engineering approach by applying AI coding tools to requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, and code review, while remaining accountable for the quality of the final delivery.
- Improve testing, monitoring, alerting, and recovery capabilities, and participate in incident resolution and post-incident reviews.
- Own the technical design and code review of core modules. Senior and Staff engineers will also lead cross-module projects and architectural evolution.
What We Look For In You
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline.
- At least two years of experience in backend engineering, real-time systems, infrastructure, or trading systems.
- Proficiency in at least one of Java, Rust, or C++, with the ability to work effectively in a multilingual codebase.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including operating systems, network communication, multithreading, concurrent programming, and distributed systems.
- Proficiency in using AI coding tools for requirements analysis, development, testing, and code review, with the ability to independently evaluate and validate AI-generated designs and code.
- Strong analytical skills, business understanding, ownership, and communication skills, including the ability to read technical materials and communicate in written English.
Technical Requirements
- Proficiency in developing production systems with Java 17+, Rust, or C++, with the ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot within a multilingual codebase.
- Familiarity with Linux development and runtime environments, including the use of common tools for resource analysis, performance diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with multithreading, asynchronous processing, network I/O, and high-performance data structures, with an understanding of lock contention, memory allocation, caching, garbage collection, and their impact on latency.
- Ability to use AI coding tools to support requirements analysis, development, testing, and code review, while independently validating the correctness and production safety of generated code.
- Familiarity with TCP, UDP, WebSocket, HTTP, or proprietary exchange protocols, with experience developing real-time data or trading interfaces.
- Ability to design and optimize high-throughput, low-latency systems and identify bottlenecks through profiling, benchmarking, and production metrics.
- Familiarity with real-time messaging and inter-process communication. Experience with Aeron, shared memory, lock-free queues, or binary protocols is preferred.
- Experience building logging, metrics, alerting, and automated recovery capabilities for continuously operating production systems.
- Familiarity with build and dependency management for large multi-module projects, together with experience in unit testing, integration testing, and continuous integration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in options market making, quantitative trading, exchange connectivity, market data, order management, quoting, hedging, or risk systems.
- Understanding of order books, order lifecycles, and market microstructure.
- Understanding of options pricing, volatility, Greeks, PnL, inventory risk, and dynamic hedging.
- Experience developing low-latency trading systems, real-time market data systems, or high-performance network services.
- Experience evolving multilingual systems or separating performance-sensitive components.
- Experience with market data replay, strategy simulation, trade reconciliation, or production incident resolution.
- Experience using Python for data analysis, backtesting, or production diagnostics.
- Practical experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex in production projects.
