The Product

Okta’s Customer Identity Cloud (CIC), powered by Auth0 technology, is an easy-to-implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers.  We make access to applications safe, secure, and seamless for the more than 100 million daily logins around the world. Our modern approach to identity enables this Tier-Ø global service to deliver convenience, privacy, and security so customers can focus on innovation.

 

The Team

The Delegated Administration team extends Auth0’s B2B features with functionality that allows enterprise SaaS applications to empower their business customers to easily set up and configure login and permissions for their users themselves. We build intuitive and delightful experiences that remove unnecessary administrative overhead and make it simple for customers of SaaS applications to set up and manage access.. Our work is cross-cutting and always heavily customer driven.

 

We work in NodeJS (JavaScript and TypeScript) and use PostgreSQL for our data needs. Our services run on AWS and Azure and we lean heavily on containers for both our development and production needs.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Collaborate with engineers both inside and outside the team to design and deliver powerful new functionality that allows our SaaS customers to empower their customers to configure and manage the users, login and permissions themselves.
  • Support the team as a technical expert, ensuring the solutions built are robust, scalable and reliable.
  • Tackle the most complex pieces of work and create proof of concepts when breaking new ground.
  • Drive technical improvements to our codebase and architecture.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced engineers on sound engineering practices.
  • Review customer interview feedback with Product.
  • Lead by example.

 

What you’ll bring to the role

  • You have previous experience using Node.js (JavaScript or Typescript) and creating and maintaining public APIs.
  • You have worked on both full-stack apps and backend services in the past, and feel confident driving best practices on both of them. A good part of our work is on the frontend.
  • You like working on systems that are highly-reliable, maintainable and scalable.
  • You have experience and an eye for good engineering practices and testing, and love to share them.
  • You work autonomously but know when to seek help from your team members.
  • You are a good mentor and communicator, and bring the rest of your team along for the journey.
  • You have experience with Docker and cloud environments (AWS and Azure preferred).
  • Good SQL knowledge and experience - we have some large datasets and need to make sure our schemas and queries are performant.
  • Understanding and experience of DevOps culture. We have infrastructure teams that build interfaces for product teams but we love working with engineers who can reason about the workings under the covers - and roll their sleeves up to write some Terraform, if need be.

 

And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following! 

  • IAM/OAuth2 experience.
  • Knowledge of security engineering and application security.
