Job Description

We’re looking for people who put their innovation to work to advance our success – and their own. Join an organization that ensures a more secure world through connecting and protecting our customers with inventive electrical solutions.

As a Supplier Development Engineer, you'll be embedded with our supply base — coaching, improving, and transforming supplier operations to meet nVent's growing demands for delivery, cost, quality, and innovation. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who thrives on driving measurable improvement at supplier sites.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

  • Evaluate and improve supplier readiness to support new nVent products and programs.
  • Analyze and expand supplier capacity to meet demand for new nVent products and programs.
  • Lead supplier capability development initiatives — assess current state, build improvement roadmaps, and drive execution of lean manufacturing, process optimization, and operational excellence programs at supplier sites.
  • Deploy continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.) within the supply base to reduce cost, improve quality, shorten lead times, and increase capacity.
  • Partner with sourcing category leaders on strategic supplier assessments, transitions, and new supplier qualifications to support global sourcing initiatives.
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance through data-driven analysis, scorecards, and business reviews — identifying high-impact opportunities across the supply base.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop recovery and resilience plans with critical suppliers to ensure supply chain continuity.
  • Coach and mentor supplier teams to build sustainable, long-term manufacturing and quality capabilities.
  • Support supply management processes, including alignment with nVent's ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System where applicable.

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field required.
  • Ideally 3+ years of experience in supplier development, manufacturing engineering, continuous improvement, or a related supply chain role.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies in a manufacturing or supplier environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes. Experience with metal fabrication suppliers is a plus.
  • Proven ability to influence and drive change across organizational boundaries — particularly with external suppliers.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30-40%.
