Strategy, Platforms & Transformation (SPT) is focused on increasing the velocity with which we translate our priorities into impact across the US business. The Data Strategy team helps establish and deliver a comprehensive rare disease data strategy for the US Commercial organization.
The Associate Director, Data Strategy supports the Executive Director, US Data Strategy, and Data Strategy team in advancing enterprise data priorities across the US organization. This role translates strategic priorities into actionable plans, coordinated execution, and measurable outcomes across data integration, AI readiness, portfolio optimization, and value realization, while partnering with TA and Functional Data Strategy Leads to advance priority work across US Commercial, Medical, MAPS, CE, and other functional data domains.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Support execution of US Data Strategy priorities, including data integration, AI readiness, value realization, and priority TA/function data needs, in partnership with the Executive Director, Data Strategy team, and TA and Functional Data Strategy Leads.
- Coordinate prioritization, planning, forums, and operating rhythms for US Data Strategy initiatives, supporting alignment with DP&F priorities and relevant governance, data quality, and enterprise stakeholders.
- Support initiatives across data integration, AI readiness, portfolio optimization, data asset usability, fitness-for-purpose assessment, and value realization, in coordination with relevant governance and data quality partners.
- Track work plans, decision points, risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and progress; surface issues and recommend actions to sustain momentum.
- Develop executive-ready materials, KPI updates, value realization insights, summaries, and recommendations to support leadership decision-making.
- Partner across US business, technology, DP&F, and enterprise teams to strengthen alignment, coordinate delivery, and influence outcomes in a matrixed environment.
Essential Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in life sciences, healthcare, or another regulated industry.
- Experience with portfolio management, value realization, data products, AI enablement, data governance partnership, or data-driven transformation initiatives.
- Relevant experience in strategy execution, planning, portfolio management, governance partnership, or cross-functional delivery within a complex matrix organization.
- Strong project and program management capabilities, including the ability to translate priorities into actionable plans, milestones, and measurable progress.
- Demonstrated ability to develop executive-level materials, KPI updates, value realization summaries, and decision-support content.
- Understanding of data strategy, analytics, data integration, AI readiness, portfolio optimization, value realization, and related digital and data capabilities, with the ability to partner across governance and data quality teams and practical awareness of US Commercial, Medical, MAPS, CE, and therapeutic-area data needs, use cases, operating contexts, and key data sources such as claims, EHR/EMR, lab, specialty pharmacy, patient services, CRM/field activity, payer/access, sales, digital, and real-world data assets.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions, teams, and senior stakeholders while influencing outcomes without direct authority.
- Excellent communication, organization, analytical judgment, and follow-through, with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguity.
Novartis Compensation Summary:
The salary for this position is expected to range between $145,600.00 and $270,400.00 per year.
The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.
Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
