Senior Software Engineer

The Senior Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, WI will develop and enhance software applications to improve business functionality. Test applications to ensure code quality and functionality. Apply continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) to quickly implement applications and services. Conduct analysis of technology needs, issues, and roadblocks and apply best practices, explore options, and deliver solution blueprints. Detect and resolve errors in code or system. Drive, design, and implement solutions to address technology problems related to products, product life cycle, and system environment. Engineer solutions for secure data integrations, enabling mobility and real-time access to data. Create delivery plans to lead migrations of existing applications to modern, full-stack cloud solutions. Develop, integrate, and lead execution of team design patterns to optimize cloud consumption. Use Agile development practices to develop applications.  Create and maintain applications, frameworks, and other software components via designing, programming, testing, and bug fixing. Utilize Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Spring, Hibernate, JSP, and Servlets. Write and maintain source code for all processes in software development life cycle and facilitate automation and orchestration of disparate systems. Develop and mentor junior team members. Telecommuting permitted. Salary $108,568- $203,840 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Digital Sciences, or a related field plus 2 years (or a Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years) of experience as a software developer or related occupation. Experience must include 2 years with each of the following: (1) Full stack development and building web applications; (2) RESTful web services using Spring Boot; (3) Node.js and building APIs; (4) AngularJS and ReactJS; (5) Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap; (6) Spring, Hibernate, JSP, and Servlets; (7) DevOps and Agile development; (8) IBM MQ, SQL, and Unix scripts; and (9) Git repositories, Git CLI, and either GitLab or GitHub.
