Internship candidates can expect a fulltime onsite internship program, running from May 29, 2025 to August 8, 2025.

 

Carefully selected from universities across the country, our interns bring distinctive ideas and perspectives to our organization. Our employees are passionate about building our emerging talent and future leaders. In addition to their day-to-day tasks, interns participate in professional development workshops, senior leadership Q&A's, volunteer initiatives, networking/social events, and more! 

Project Management Intern

The project assistant's role is to help program/project managers in executing operational and administrative tasks, including but not limited to: organizing project schedules, preparing project status reports, creating project presentation materials, and managing project correspondence and maintaining project documentation. 

The project assistant's day will vary but may include project related meetings and 1x1 meetings with specific project managers to align on needs. Desk time to execute on activities 

Bring Your Best! What this role needs. Minimum qualifications 

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Management Information Systems or related field from an accredited college or university 
  • Currently attending a college or university in the mid-west
  • Experience in Microsoft tools such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher 
  • Employer immigration sponsorship is not available for this role 

Preferred skills and Proficiencies 

  • Aptitude to critically and logically evaluate costs, risks and benefits of alternatives before coming to a solution 
  • Skilled at engaging and modeling adventurous, consultative and constructive dialogue; confidence to offer a new and potentially challenging ideas to further conversation and critical thinking 
  • Ability to deliver difficult and/or sophisticated messages and help others understand multiple points of view 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills 
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability 
  • High degree of self-motivation, passion, and a strive to learn 
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities

Pay rates for internships are determined based on academic tenure and major.

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
