Northrop Grumman is seeking a Software Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be in San Diego, CA, onsite with some remote work available.

This Software Developers primary role is to design, develop and test Mission Systems software. The Software Developer will collaborate with IPT Leads, Integration RE, Software RE, and other developers in a team-oriented environment to achieve program goals; ensures that technical, integration, and schedule performance measures are being met with particular focus on software quality, requirement verification and detail design approaches comply with Sector processes, procedures, and best design/architecture approaches.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and at least 2 years of direct software engineering experience; OR a master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of direct software-related experience.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. Interim DoD secret required to start. Ability to obtain and maintain any program access required.

  • Solid understanding of Sensor Fusion concepts and sensor management workflows.

  • Hands on experience using container tools (Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes) in development and/or production settings.

  • Proven ability to administer both Linux and Windows servers.

  • Experience integrating software across multiple operating systems.

  • Programming: Proficient in C++ and Java; comfortable writing scripts (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate tasks and glue components together.

  • Ability to perform post flight data analysis to validate system performance and support continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Developed machine learning models for sensor fusion or autonomous sensor management.

  • Utilized ML frameworks to train and evaluate models within simulated environments.

  • Deployed, operated, and scaled containerized applications with Kubernetes (or comparable orchestration platforms) in distributed systems.

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
