Role Summary: Lead enterprise-wide Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives across client, product, third-party, and account domains, ensuring high-quality, integrated master data to support our data governance and digital transformation goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and lead assigned Master Data subdomains (e.g., Client, Product, Reference Data), ensuring data integrity, consistency, and alignment with enterprise standards
  • Drive end-to-end data quality initiatives, from profiling and issue identification through root cause analysis, remediation design, and execution
  • Perform deep-dive data analysis and profiling to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for improving data accuracy and completeness
  • Define and implement data quality rules, controls, and monitoring frameworks to proactively manage data issues
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to resolve data issues at source, influencing process and system changes for sustainable improvement
  • Lead data governance and stewardship activities, including management of critical data elements (CDEs), metadata, lineage, and business rules
  • Collaborate with technology and architecture teams on data ingestion, integration, and MDM enhancements, ensuring alignment to the target operating model
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across master data processes, including automation, standardization, and optimization of data flows
  • Support delivery of regulatory, operational, and analytical data requirements, ensuring trusted data is available for downstream consumption
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for assigned domains, guiding junior analysts and contributing to best practices across the MDM organization

Qualifications & Skills

  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to query, join, reconcile, and analyze large datasets across multiple systems
  • Strong experience in data profiling and identifying data patterns, anomalies, and quality issues
  • Proven capability in data quality management including rule definition, defect analysis, and remediation tracking
  • Solid understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts (match/merge, survivorship, golden record, stewardship)
  • Experience with data governance practices, including metadata, lineage, and critical data element (CDE) management
  • Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and drive resolution of data issues at source
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present insights and work effectively with business and technology stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with data governance / data quality tools (e.g., Collibra or similar)
  • Exposure to financial services, regulatory, or client, account, product, reference data domains
  • Experience with Python or BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) for advanced analysis and reporting

Salary Range:

$95,600 - 162,400 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
