Sr Manager WM Data Platform Engineering

The WM Data Platform is going through an extensive Data Modernization moving from On-prem infrastructure to Cloud Technologies for both Self-Serve Analytics and operational runtime needs. The shared data platform needs to be equipped with self-service capabilities and automated infrastructure operations to enhance data engineer experience and organizational efficiency.

We're seeking a Sr Manager for the Platform Engineering Team, that continues to build and own reusable frameworks and patterns for secondary encryption, test data mgmt/ refresh/ automation, data ingestion patterns, IaaC scripts etc. The end goal is to create a data platform as a product for internal data engineers, who can use the capabilities provided to create Data Products for consumption by the other applications/ teams/ data scientists.

Your daily work will involve:

• Partnering with lead of data engineering, solution architects and engineers to understand gaps in the data platform and looking for automation opportunities
• Ensuring there are robust patterns and frameworks established for data ingestion, consumption
• Providing engineering leadership and oversight to the On prem Oracle DBAs, Cloud Engineers and DevOps engineers to ensure
  • The data platform is scalable for large amounts of data ingestion and processing without service degradation
  • Processes are built for monitoring and optimizing performance
  • Implement Chaos Engineering practices and measures that allow the end-to-end infrastructure to function as expected, even if individual components fail
  • Test Data Management and Refresh patterns are in place and established for on demand and scheduled refreshes
  • Data masking is in place in all non-production environments using enterprise tools and partnering with other enterprise teams / groups
  • Team maintains robust data and devOps pipelines build and engineered in partnership with the data engineering squads/ teams
• Partnering with other peers on actively providing input and helping execute on the data modernization efforts
• Engaging in high level break/fix support during disaster recovery scenarios and assists with Production issues when higher level analysis is required.
• Woking closely with architects and other enterprise stakeholders to ensure solution alignment with best enterprise practices.

• You will also be responsible for:
  • Performance management of the staff and maximizing the effectiveness by building strong team/technical competencies.
  • Recruiting, developing and mentoring high performing and diverse teams across various workgroups.  Promote teamwork in problem resolution. Foster an environment of open discussion,
  • Ensuring adherence to organizational policies, guidelines and processes

You must have:

• Demonstrated leadership and cross functional collaboration experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to attract and retain top talent 
• Expertise in designing lakehouse/ data solutions on Azure/ Snowflake
• Experience in configuration, maintenance and optimization of on prem and cloud data solutions (Oracle, Marklogic, Data Stage, Azure ADLS/ Synapse), Cloud Infrastructure and Data Workloads
• Extensive knowledge of application development and support processes, usually having experience with multiple system technologies.
• Hands on Technical experience with various Data Product development tools, utilities, and frameworks such as Azure Delta Lake/ Synapse, Snowflake, Databrick, IBM DataStage, Informatica, Oracle PL/SQL, and Master Data concepts.   Additional application development utilizes Java Spring Frameworks,  server-side JavaScript, and NoSQL data utilities
• Ability to read data models and explain data Entity-Relationships to ETL developers, python and java developers.
• Strong domain knowledge and experience working with a wide range of Financial Services / Wealth Management technology platforms.
