Northern Trust is looking for an Associate to join our Cash & Corporate Technology Team in Pune, India. Candidate will be responsible for providing support & development to some of the critical applications within Northern Trust dealing with data.

Job Description AND Principal Responsibilities

This role covers below responsibilities within Northern Trust :

  • Provide support to the business and other IT teams to ensure stability of production systems.

  • Ensure priority incidents are being addressed in a timely manner to avoid major incidents

  • Resolve incidents/failures and ensure closure within the SLAs. Perform root cause analysis and provide solution/work around for incidents.

  • Debug issues, incidents and provide solutions for the same through hands on development.

  • Ensure seamless running of batch process/application through proactive, regular health checks .

  • Support scheduled weekend activities, participate in disaster recovery events and release testing events.

  • Coordinate with upstream and downstream application teams proactively for any risks or potential issues.

  • Proactively identify & implement opportunities to increase efficiency through automation & process efficiencies.

  • Take ownership and drive learning initiatives, build knowledge base within team and manage work independently

  • Participate in engineering efforts i.e. system design , build, deployment and testing.

  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships and communication with global stakeholders, other IT teams, and business areas.

  • Should be flexible to work in early APAC and EMEA time zones

  • Handle change request process & approvals.

  • Provide support for audit and compliance related activities .

  • Ability to work with vendors and support staff on support tickets and follow up regularly till resolution is found

Experience/ Skills

Minimum qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or engineering

  • 5-7 years of extensive work experience in Unix, SQL, Oracle, DB2, Date Warehouse, Java, J2EE, Spring boot, Messaging, Websphere, ETL Data Stage, PL/SQL

Required Skills

  • Must have work experience with Master Data Management, Data Quality, Regulatory reporting, Reference data

  • Must have good work experience developing applications in Java, J2EE, ETL Data Stage, PL/SQL, Data Warehouse, Spring boot

  • Strong database knowledge in Oracle and DB2 and should have excellent querying skills

  • Experience with distributed design, maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Hands-on-experience with debugging and optimizing code, as well as with automation

  • Experience working with industry standards, regulations, guidelines and familiarity with trends in data management industry.

  • Ability to resolve issues/troubleshoot application in a high-pressure & time critical environment.

  • Firm understanding of ITIL Process guidelines, with specific focus on Service Operations and Incident Management

  • Exposure to Agile practices ( Scrum /Kanban)

  • Experience with ITSM Service now tool, and Dynatrace will be an added advantage

  • Self-motivated to initiate actions and be responsible for consequent decisions.

  • Strong analytical skills, with an ability to quickly identify scope and impact of issues during high-pressure situations

  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, drive, and ownership

  • Knowledge of financial markets
