Principal Product Developer, Sport Promo Footwear, Global Jordan

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

As the Product Brief comes to life through the creation process you will align with the Product team of (Product Management, Footwear Developers, Engineers, Designers and Factory Partners) while aligning with Sports Marketing for Athlete trials and feedback.  As custom product is tailored to the exact specifications of the athlete, you will obsess over smallest of details, while collaborating, ideating, and refining product construction, performance, fit and style. You will use groundbreaking advancements in technology, Foot Scans and BFL team to help inform athlete potential needs. You will work lockstep with Inline Development, Promo Development, Product Management, Marketing, Design, Materials, Testing, and our overseas partners to produce products that reflect the soul of Jordan Footwear, that inspire and enable our athletes to reach all new levels of performance.

As a member of the Jordan Footwear Development team, you will inform, drive, and facilitate decisions throughout the product creation process to meet or exceed the design vision, prioritizing athlete performance and product excellence. You will be an active thought partner with Product Management, Sports Marketing, Design, Engineering, Materials, and Factory Product Creation Teams to develop processes and tools that push boundaries and create solutions that support the creation of Jordan’s game changing footwear products.

We obsess greatness in service of our athletes so we can watch them fly.  We are looking for a Principal Footwear Developer who will work collaboratively with key functional partners throughout the Product Development process.  This includes Footwear Innovation, Footwear Product Creation, Product Design, Product Management, Sports Marketing, Footwear Color & Material Design, Material Development, Operations, and our overseas partners – both within Jordan and external to the Jordan Brand.

You will need to navigate the Jordan/Nike Inc. matrix to ensure that our processes model match our Footwear Development standard methodologies and best practices for product excellence. You are the key point of contact for our overseas partners and ensure that communication during the product development process is clear, accurate and responsive.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

We are seeking a Principal Footwear Developer who will work in service of our elite athlete’s custom Footwear needs throughout Product Creation until debut.  Transitioning Footwear creation for our consumer into custom development to the exact specifications of elite Jordan athletes. You will drive the creation and development process through unique Sample Request timelines to align with business and athlete needs.

As a problem solver and Footwear creation expert, you will identify and provide solutions while delivering product of the highest quality for our athletes to achieve greatness.  You will have the opportunity to deliver transformative product that will obsess and exceed our athletes Fit and Performance expectations. You will listen to the voice of the athlete, use your technical expertise while leveraging the power of Nike/Jordan extended Product teams, research labs and partners to deliver exceptional product following the design intent. 

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training

• Preferred Degree in Product Development, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, Industrial Design or equivalent combination of experience, or training

• A minimum of 8 years directly relevant work experience

• High profile communication and influencing skills, including the ability to interact and update leaders on status to ensure alignment.

• High Profile Athlete communication and ability to interact with external business / influencer partners. 

• Consistent track record of pulling together diverse individuals with conflicting priorities, while identifying a path forward, and championing alignment.

• Prior experience and deep understanding of Footwear Product Development + Footwear innovation creation process

• Expert knowledge of footwear manufacturing technologies and equipment, tooling, and materials is highly preferred. Including Nike product creation software and tools.

• The ability to anticipate and solve complex footwear issues with Asia based teammates to ensure quality and craftsmanship standards.

• Proficient understanding of Product Testing best practices, product planning and logistics, process planning, and expertise in project management with strong communication skills

• Instills confidence and empowers a project team in delivering product excellence through collaboration

• Entrepreneurial mindset and spirit to proactively drive critical deliverables, while identifying novel solutions that address technical and business challenges.

• Bias towards action and comfortable working in ambiguous environments

• Adjust to changing circumstances and adapt to ensure product excellence

• In-depth understanding of the Footwear calendar dates and gates, with the ability to adjust project plans based on compressed timelines/ Athlete and Business needs

• Passion for Sport Performance and Jordan Footwear 

• The ability to travel 20% of the time
