WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

This position will report to Design Director of Women’s Training Apparel and will work alongside a team of designers that are dreaming up Nike’s vision for the future of training. This role requires experience developing and managing cross-functional relationships with Graphic & Color designers, Product Management & Merchandising, Material/Trim development, Technical Development and Sourcing teams. This role requires translating consumer & athlete insights and trend to performance product. The right candidate for this role understands that the best way to predict the future is to create it. This role will not have any direct reports

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Lead Apparel Designer who expertly marries style and performance through seasonal narratives that result in beautiful and functional apparel product. A keen eye to design, creative thinking, problem solving, passion for apparel craft/innovation, understanding of the women’s training consumer and sport culture are critical traits to the role.

This role requires distinct talent for responding to business objectives with creative design solutions that lead the market both in terms of trend and performance for her. This candidate has Expertise in women’s apparel design, fit, materials, fashion, with motivation to evolve style and function for her.

We are looking for a candidate who is resilient, collaborative, and able to juggle fast pace competing priorities. Strong communication skills both visually and verbally with teammates across the organization, collaborative problem solving, deep emotional intelligence, process proficiencies, and thoroughness in executing detail oriented design assets are skills that will make the candidate successful.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel/Fashion Design or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a design environment working with materials, trims, design, and fit
  • Outstanding ability to apply foundational design skills, including illustrations across analog and digital platforms. Adobe illustrator, photoshop, comprehensive understanding of materials/fit. Vizcom/3D/Miro experience is a plus.
  • Compelling portfolio demonstrating understanding of insight-driven design, concept/narrative development, problem-solving, and polished execution of women’s and women’s performance apparel product.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with proven success collaborating across cross-functional teams and presenting concepts to stakeholders
  • Demonstrate creative agility, positive attitude, self awareness, and the ability to manage competing priorities of varying complexity through ambiguity to completion.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

We’re looking for a Lead Apparel Designer to help shape our Women’s Training apparel collections. This role plays a key part in bringing cohesive, performance-driven product to life each season through compelling narrative, material novelty, innovative performance craft, in collaboration with color and graphics design. You’ll be instrumental in creating the future of Women’s Training apparel for Nike.

  • A typical day/week consists of working closely with your Apparel Design teammates and cross functional teammates to ensure we’re creating the future of sport/culture across Nike Training. This can range from brainstorm sessions on creative strategies to meetings designed to review apparel, graphic and color designs to achieve the desired goal.
  • In depth research on fashion, design, training, and sport culture
  • Collaborate closely wth a team of designers spanning graphics, color, concept,
  • Translate trend, consumer insight, and brand vision into compelling product
  • Upskilling ways of working through programs such as Vizcom/Clo or craft through physical prototyping. We never stop learning.
  • Get outside of the office for design research and experience the consumer journey in training, retail, and lifestyle. This may require traveling.
