Backend Engineer Mid/Sr/Manager  - Chennai and Pune

As a Backend Engineer, you’ll be part of a team of smart, highly skilled technologists who are passionate about learning and prototyping cutting-edge technologies. Right now our platform is based in C++, Java, Spring Boot, snowflake, PostgreSQL and we continue to adopt the best of breed in cloud-native, low-latency technologies. As part of the team you will be  doing the development and you will shape a scalable, reliable, efficient application which handles very large volume of data .Your work will keep NielsenIQ on the cutting edge and guide our technology teams to success.  

What you’ll do 

  • Write Java, C++, SQL, PostgreSQL code  to add functionality to our platform 

  • Build out an event driven, microservices architecture using both serverless technologies and RESTful, Spring Boot APIs  

  • Model complex product data and work with multiple data database, including Sybase, PostgreSQL 

  • Pair with and mentor other engineers to provide highly-valuable and innovative products to our customers 

  • Approach work from an Agile mindset applying practices and principles wherever possible 

  • Participate and begin to lead in defining backlog and requirements clarification for various technology projects. Meet weekly with your manager 1:1 to keep the lines of communication flowing and ensure your performance and development is on track 

  • Explore and evaluate new technologies. 

  • Develop reference implementations demonstrating NielsenIQ’s architectural guidelines. 

  • Use your in-depth knowledge of cloud technology to analyze critical technical challenges. 

Qualifications

  • 3 to 12 years’ experience in technology roles, including software engineering and development 

  • 3 to 8 years’ experience developing software in one or more popular programming languages; e.g., C++, JavaScript, Python, or Java; ideally full-stack development experience 

  • 3+ years experience is writing stored procedure and complex queries  

  • Experience in Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins and Bitbucket/Git. 

  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Azure  

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly 

  • Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface across cross-functional technology teams and the business  

  • Minimum B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field 

  • Snowflake, Data Analytics, In-Memory Database experience
