Staff VMWare and UCS Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Responsibilities:UCS & VMware Integration: Design and implement integrated solutions leveraging Cisco UCS, VMware technologies, and in-depth knowledge server technology to optimize performance, scalability, security, and on-premise capacity efficiency.
• System Architecture: Lead the technical design of complex UCS and VMware environments, considering infrastructure requirements, networking, storage, application needs, long-term capacity planning, and VMware licensing strategies.
• Team Mentorship: Guide and mentor a small team of engineers, fostering skill development, collaboration, a focus on capacity management practices, and a deep understanding of VMware licensing.
• Troubleshooting and Optimization: Excel in troubleshooting complex technical issues across UCS and VMware systems. Proactively monitor, optimize performance, and identify potential capacity constraints.
• Capacity Planning: Lead on-premise capacity planning efforts, analyzing usage trends, forecasting needs, and making strategic recommendations for hardware, software, and licensing upgrades within VMware domains.
• Bill of Materials (BOM): Develop accurate and detailed BOMs for projects, ensuring alignment with technical requirements, budget constraints, capacity considerations, and optimal VMware licensing.
• Collaboration: Work seamlessly with network, infrastructure, security teams to ensure cohesive and secure architecture solutions that support optimal resource utilization and licensing compliance.
• Documentation: Meticulously document configurations, procedures, best practices, and capacity-related metrics for UCS and VMware environments.

Job Requirements

• Proven Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of hands-on experience with VMware, Cisco UCS technologies (including strong expertise in VMware licensing) in enterprise environments, including prior team leadership or project management experience.
• Technical Certifications:VMware Certified Professional (VCP) – RequiredCisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or equivalent – Preferred. Advanced Cisco and VMware certifications are a plus.
• Problem-solving Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of resolving complex challenges across UCS and VMware.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical concepts, mentor others, advocate for capacity-related strategies, and articulate licensing complexities.
• Leadership Aptitude: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a small team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
• Capacity Management Focus: Experience in on-premise capacity planning, performance analysis, and resource optimization.
