Position overview:

We are seeking a highly-talented, dynamic Head of Finance / Finance Director (m/f/d) to join our executive team as the first senior hire in the finance area. The position will play a critical role in building the finance department and thus be a crucial building block for our future success. 

The role is based in Hamburg, Germany.

What you’ll do:

• Oversee finance operations, for example accounting & tax, financial reporting and treasury. 
• Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s growth and objectives.
• Lead financial planning processes and provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team.
• Manage relationships with investors, auditors, banks, and other financial institutions as well as other external service providers.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
• Oversee risk management and develop strategies to mitigate financial risks.
• Build, lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
• Build strong relationships and maintain clear communication across all levels of the organization to effectively understand and address business and operational needs.

Our ideal candidate:

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree (or higher), strong own initiative and “hands-on”, entrepreneurial  mindset.
• Relevant experience in a financial leadership role within the software or technology sector and strong generalist knowledge in all areas of the CFO department, ideally with building up a department from scratch.
• Proven track record of successfully managing financial operations in a high-growth environment.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills and ability to serve as a thought partner for the Chief Executive Officer and the broader executive team. 
• Experience working with venture capital or private equity-backed companies is a plus.
