The Opportunity

What You'll Do

• Take ownership of the software development lifecycle, from initial design through deployment and maintenance.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and other engineers to understand and translate requirements into scalable technical solutions aligned with business goals.
• Write efficient, maintainable, and optimized code while architecting robust backend solutions and scalable distributed systems.
• Work closely with frontend engineers to define RESTful APIs and communication protocols that ensure seamless data exchange.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
• Identify and resolve system bottlenecks, optimize database queries, and leverage caching and load balancing techniques to minimize latency.
• Support testing strategies by building testable code in collaboration with SDET teams, preventing regressions, and utilizing AI-assisted tools for test automation where appropriate.
• Monitor and analyze system metrics, including response times and error rates, to identify performance issues and continuously improve system reliability.
• Contribute to High-Level Designs (HLDs) for backend systems and platform architecture.
• Create and maintain high-quality architectural and design documentation, including system design decisions, API standards, and engineering processes to support long-term maintainability and cross-team collaboration.
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and engineering planning.
• Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system reliability and observability.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 4–6 years of professional experience in backend or full-stack software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Python or Go, with experience building scalable backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Deep understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and backend design patterns.
• Strong database skills with PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design and query optimization.
• Working knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or similar technologies.
• Hands-on experience with AWS (or similar cloud platforms), Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven systems, and backend performance optimization.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and system design principles.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and building scalable distributed systems.
• Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with Redis or distributed caching solutions.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
• Experience optimizing highly available, large-scale production systems.
• Exposure to machine learning infrastructure or data-intensive applications.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical design discussions.
• Contributions to open-source projects are a plus.
