The Opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) who is passionate about building scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems. In this role, you'll design and develop cloud-native services, distributed systems, and APIs that power our AI-driven healthcare products.
You'll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, AI researchers, and domain experts to solve complex technical challenges while delivering software that has a direct impact on healthcare innovation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys tackling large-scale engineering problems, values clean and maintainable code, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and distributed systems.
- Build secure, high-performance RESTful APIs for internal and customer-facing applications.
- Design cloud-native microservices with a focus on reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Optimize system performance, latency, and resource utilization.
- Implement robust testing strategies and ensure high code quality through unit, integration, and automated testing.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and improve developer productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, AI, Data Science, Clinical, and Platform Engineering to deliver innovative solutions.
- Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and engineering planning.
- Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system reliability and observability.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
- Drive engineering best practices and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 4–7 years of professional experience in backend or full-stack software engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Python as a primary backend programming language.
- Deep understanding of RESTful API design and backend application development.
- Experience designing and building scalable distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming principles.
- Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and engineering best practices.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with Redis or distributed caching solutions.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
- Experience optimizing highly available, large-scale production systems.
- Exposure to machine learning infrastructure or data-intensive applications.
- Contributions to open-source projects are a plus.
