What this Role Offers
  • Opportunity to integrate and operate complete robotic flight systems from bench setup to real-world missions.
  • Hands-on exposure to sensors, payloads, onboard computers, flight controllers, and ground-control systems.
  • Direct involvement in ground testing, flight testing, log analysis, troubleshooting, and field validation.
  • Opportunity to work with Mission Planner, QGroundControl, ArduPilot/PX4, ROS/ROS2, and OpenCV-based tools.
  • Broad learning opportunities across camera calibration, computer vision, communications, radar, and sensor integration.
  • A pathway to R&D in UAV applications encompassing CVML, localization and mapping, sensor fusion, state estimation, navigation and planning, guidance and control, and multi-agent systems.
About the Role
The ‘Engineer II – Robotics System Integration’ role is a hands-on, execution-focused position centered on bringing complete robotic flight systems from laboratory setup to successful field operation. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the engineer focuses primarily on the practical ‘how’ of system integration, bench testing, ground testing, and field flight execution. The engineer will integrate hardware and software components, operate ground-control tools, execute approved test plans, collect and analyze flight logs, and help technical teams understand real-world system behaviour.
Working closely with and receiving direction from Systems Engineering, Avionics, Robotics Software, Embedded Software, Flight-Control Firmware, and R&D leads, the engineer will execute integration tasks and support cross-disciplinary testing. This role is ideal for junior engineers who want to build, test, and troubleshoot real physical systems while learning from experienced technical mentors.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with integrating sensors, payloads, onboard computers, flight controllers, and supporting equipment at the system level
  • Support aircraft-level installation activities alongside Avionics and specialist units following established procedures
  • Configure and operate Mission Planner, QGroundControl, ArduPilot, and PX4 workflows as required
  • Execute bench checks, sensor checks, calibrations, preflight inspections, ground tests, and flight-test support tasks
  • Help prepare test configurations and execute approved test cases under the direct guidance of senior technical leads
  • Collect, organize, and summarize flight-controller, ROS, telemetry, payload, and system logs for review
  • Assist in reproducing field issues, documenting test observations, and providing operational log data to senior engineers
  • Use ROS/ROS2 tools, open-source robotics packages, and visualization utilities during integration
  • Support setup and calibration activities for field operations and experiments in the GNSS-Denied domain
  • Maintain accurate test records, configuration notes, operational checklists, issue tracking logs, and test reports
  • Provide limited backup support for embedded software integration when required
Growth & Learning
  • Direct 1-on-1 mentorship and structured guidance from senior systems and robotics engineers.
  • A clear pathway to deepen technical expertise in UAV autonomy, state estimation, sensor fusion, and navigation within GNSS-denied environments.
  • Accelerated professional development through regular hands-on field testing, real-world troubleshooting, and cross-functional engineering exposure.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Robotics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Aerospace
  • 3+ years (Bachelor’s) or 1+ years (Master’s) of industrial experience in systems engineering and integration affiliated to aerospace, UAVs, robotics, or complex embedded products; demonstrated architecture ownership and technical depth are more important than a strict year count
  • Hands-on experience with UAVs, mobile robots, embedded computers, sensors, or comparable integrated systems
  • Familiarity with ArduPilot or PX4 and at least one GCS, such as Mission Planner or QGroundControl
  • Programming experience in C++ and Python in Linux-based robotics environments.
  • Experience working in ROS/ROS2 in Linux-based robotics environments.
  • Experience working with MAVLink, serial communication (UART, I2C, SPI), Ethernet, and other sensor interfaces
  • Experience with networking protocols - UDP, TCP/IP, DDS (Data Distribution Service), Modbus, MQTT, WebSockets
  • Willingness to participate in field and flight-test activities and learn across technical domains
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building, configuring, or flying multirotor/fixed-wing systems using Pixhawk-class hardware
  • Experience with Gazebo, ArduPilot SITL, PX4 SITL, ROS bags, and flight-log analysis
  • Experience with OpenCV, camera calibration, coordinate frames, or basic image-processing pipelines
  • Experience with Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, Arduino, or other embedded/edge platforms
  • Familiarity with CAN, RS232, RS422, time synchronization, radar, or payload integration
  • Experience with technical documentation, test reporting, and structured root-cause analysis
  • Experience in independently owning integration work packages or field-test preparation
Working Hours
  • Standard working hours are 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday to Friday
  • Field-testing activities may require early-morning or extended hours, depending on mission requirements
Compensation Range
  • Competitive compensation aligned with industry standards, including performance-based incentives
  • Exact salary ranges will be customised according to experience
Benefits
  • Comprehensive health insurance
  • Professional development support
  • Detachment allowance
